Prismacolor, Tria, Studio II I have some of the Prismacolor markers and like them very well. They are double-tipped, with the thin tip being very fine, and the thick tip wedged so that you can get a 3 different wide edges from it (though I personally can only vouch for 2 :-} ). I have heard of Trias, but have never seen any -- because our local art stores don't carry them and they aren't in Nasco or Dick Blick catalogs. Prismacolor and Studio II are carried by all of these sources here -- I chose Prismacolor because I like the fine tip and because I can see and try the colors in a store here. In catalogs the printed colors are not always a good representation -- and for @$2.50 each I like to know what I'm getting! I also chose Prismacolor because that is the brand of colored pencil I use and am intrigued by using the two mediums together. Sorry I don't have a comparison thing to share, but I'm interested in those comments from people who have tried more than one brand... If they have a tabacco odor, you can spray them with an air freshener. One of those odor neutralizer types work good. Then paint the box or cover it with decorative paper. You can decorate it with stamped images or whatever. In these, you can store stamping supplies. A couple of times when I have taught classes in someone's home, instead of bringing everyone's supplies in a bag, I put them into the cigar boxes. I had painted the boxes with gesso so they could decorate the boxes themselves. This went over great with the class. Another idea would be to make a stationary set of cards, envelopes, etc. Add a book of postage stamps and an ink pen. Wrap it up and it makes a nice gift idea. Especially for a child going off to college. My 14 yr. old daughter likes this kind of thing too. She has a couple of pen-friends that she is writing to all the time. You could also make these stationary sets up and donate them to senior centers or rest homes. Another idea would be to make up the boxes with a child theme and put in some inexpensive stencils, color pencils, and paper. The children's ward at a local hospital could give these out to patients. Point your web browser at http://crafts.dm.net/ . ------------------------------ End of rubberstampers Digest V2 #3165 ************************************* To subscribe to rubberstampers Digest, send the command: subscribe rubberstampers-digest in the body of a message to "majordomo@xmission.com". If you want to subscribe something other than the account the mail is coming from, such as a local redistribution list, then append that address to the "subscribe" command; for example, to subscribe "local-rubberstampers": subscribe rubberstampers-digest local-rubberstampers@your.domain.net A non-digest (direct mail) version of this list is also available; to subscribe to that instead, replace all instances of "rubberstampers-digest" in the commands above with "rubberstampers". Back issues are available for anonymous FTP from ftp.xmission.com, in pub/lists/rubberstampers/archive. These are organized by date.
