Official Disclaimer: If extensive gushing and drooling annoy you, please delete this message right away. When I find out where my SS lives, I'm going to drive there and hug them really hard and scream in their ear! : ) I got my package today -- it scared me to death at first, this box with a lawyer's office on the label and I though Yikes! What did I do now that I didn't know about?? Hee... well, the panic didn't last long when I saw SS on it. Then I ran into the house ignoring whatever it was my husband was saying to me, opened the box with great excitement and absolutely shrieked! SS I love you man! : D I got two magazines -- Somerset Studios (I was pondering buying this a week or so ago and I'm glad I didn't!) and the Stamper's Sampler. They're both just beautiful and I can't wait to try some of the ideas! There were also four cat's eyes in the most scrumptious colors -- chianti, evergreen, eggplant and colonial blue... I love them all and none are duplicates of the colors I have! Also some pastel glitter in yellow, which I'm not quite sure how to use, but I'm sure someone on the list can help me out ! : ) Oh, and GOBS of beautiful cardstock in the most beautiful colors! pink, green, purple, red, magenta, and white along with other colors... The most adorable country stamps -- a set by Stampin' Up called "Friends are Forever". These are great!! Also I got two bags of eyeballs, one large and one small size... What looks like a peppermint stick (not sure with all the flavors these days!) so I can munch absent-mindedly while stamping : D some beautiful gold cord and four rolls of ribbon -- red, black, navy and a deep burgundy -- all very beautiful! Everything was made festive by the addition of heart confetti and gold and iridescent cellophane, and I swear I could not have special-ordered a better package for myself. SS, you're something else! : ) Thanks so much again! So when do I get to come to your house and play? geevee so many stamps, so little time - ---------- From: ConraderP@aol.com Sent: Monday, February 17, 1997 9:15 PM To: rubberstampers@firewall.genie.net Subject: SSS: Long: Patricia C's SS strikes again! What a week. First girl scout cookies, now another package from my SS. You can't believe how happy I was to come home from play group and find a large box on my door step. The happiness turned to excitment when I saw that the box was from my ss. The smile was even bigger once I opened the package. Inside was a basket of goodies. After I removed the paper wrapping from the basket, I sat speechless looking at the card that accompanied all of the gifts my ss sent me. Like the first card, this card will hold a place of honor on the wall in my stamp room. My ss and I either have the same taste in stamping or she does a great job of stamping cards that I like. If my ss will give me permission, I will dedicate a place on my web site to display the cards she sends. The two cards I have received so far are gorgeous. Her stamping style has served as a source of inspiration for me. This month's card had a heart cut out of tan colored craft foam. The heart was cut out with deckle edged scissors and stamped with PSX's (?) Happy Valentine's Day. Other ingredients used to make the card include a pumpkin spice colored sheet of cardstock, copper colored glossy (where did you get this?), wavy corrugated kraft paper (I think this is from Paper Routes), feathers, raffia, metalic gold crinkled paper (this can also be purchased from Paper Routes), a really cool paper called firestorm (I think that is its name) available from Paper Routes, a $.29 Western Wildlife postage stamp, Licorice colored wax (from Judi-Kins), and one of the Judi-Kins wax stamps. The first layer was the pupkin spice colored card. The second was the corrugated paper. The third was a rectangular shaped piece of the copper glossy. The fourth layer was a square piece of the firestorm mounted at an angle. On top of the papers were the feathers and raffia held in place by the licorice colored wax seal that was stamped with the Judi-Kins wax stamp. The card was accented in the lower right corner with the Western Wildlife stamp that had been mounted on a piece of the crinkle gold paper. The craft foam heart was on the left hand side of the card. To give you an idea of its size, it took up nearly half of the card. On the back of the card were two questions. The first question was do you make your own paper? The answer is I made my first sheet of paper today. It was a success (thanks to GeeVee). John gave me a paper making kit for Christmas. I don't have any paper castings, but GeeVee demonstrated how to use them and I thought it looked like something I would like to do. The second question pertained to how I feel about glitter, sparkles and shiney metallics. After reading this question, I am convinced that my ss followed me around the FW stamp convention. I stood in awe while watching the Art Institute demonstration. So, the verdict is...I think glitter, sparkles and shiney metallics are wonderful. In addition to a great card and papers from Paper Routes that were sent earlier in the month, my ss sent a paper corrugator. I'm not talking about the small kind, she sent the monster wooden corrugator. THANKS SS! I have been wanting this for a long time. I had it in my hands to buy it at the DFW convention, but was over come with gilt after I realized how much money I had already spent. After calling a couple stamping buddies to gloat, I corrugated everything in sight. Wait, there was more! I also received a giant tea cup, some spiced raspberry tea, and the cutest heart shaped tea ball. The tea was in a floral print bag. SS, did you make this yourself? The tea was perfect because I came down with a sinus infection over the weekend. Now I know you must be psycic. In addition to everything I already mentioned, my ss sent an initial stamp (with my initials [of course]), a You-Stamp-It mouse pad, botanical tissue paper, tea cup tissue paper (will look wonderful with my Stampendous tea-cup), X-fine detail gold embossing powder (I like it!), mini heart confetti, and tan colored craft foam (I can't wait to use it). Opps, there were four more things. Four Fudge Love chocolates (mmmmmm!). I am wearing the chocolates. They have turned into fatty deposits along my waistline. I wish we could think of way to use fat cells in conjunction with stamping. One of my favorite things in the basket was a note telling me to stay away from the tracking numbers on my package or she will have them sent from South Africa collect. I loved it. She also called me a young lady. I haven't been called a young lady in years, many years. My oldest son tells me I'm as old as dirt. After reading the little note, I knew my SS has a sense of humor (I like that in a person). Thanks again, SS! You have out done yourself. I hear other people saying they have the greatest SS, but the others don't compare! Someday, I will video tape myself while I open one of your packages. Only then, will you really realize how much joy you bring to me each month. Thanks a million, Patricia My husband took the dictionary out of the computer room; therefore, I am not responsible for any words that may be spelled incorrectly. ------------------------------ From: giggles5@juno.com (Linda S. I'm really impressed with every one them: Paws4Stamping has a black postcard layered with decoratively cut paper and foil. A gold embossed butterfly is the focal point and its wings are lifted off the page making it look like it's temporarily lighting there. She has butterflies dry embossed onto the foil for a really neat look. Patricia Conrader's card is a Magenta image which she stamped in brown ink, colord (beautifully, I might add) with pencils, then over-stamped in gold on a tan parchment cardstock. She gave step-by-step instruction on how she completed her card...what a great idea, now I can copy it! Cherri Langley's card is dangley. Sorry, I couldn't resist. She has a gorgeous Japanese printed paper layered on top of fuschia cardstock. Some of her oriental stamped images have been cut out and dangled from another image using jump rings. Definitely framable. I don't think I spelled that right. Kathy Ward's card is a bouquet of tulips stamped on vellum, cut out, placed in a copper planter with a background of unusual green handmade paper. When I say copper, I mean copper like the metal...not copper colored paper, like I first thought it was! My carpel tunnel acts up just thinking about having to cut those suckers out! Terri Daniels' card definitely appeals to my celestial side! She stamped gold stars on black cardstock. Inside the diamond shaped cut-out on the front is a medallion with a moon stamped on it hanging from some fine fishing line type thread. The "medallion" appears to be cardstock decorated with a spattering of purple, orange and yellow metallic paint. And our hostess, The Pampered Stamper, sent a little packet of confetti, no-hole beads, jewels and a beautiful gold sticker. Also, a little note thanking us all for participating. This was a great swap...I've got a whole handfull of ideas to start working on now! Shannon ------------------------------ From: gardner@datastar.net (R.
