I finally found someone with a sense of the ridiculous like mine!!!! (And since then found MANY more on the list!!!! Right Peter Pan, Giggles and StamperKat??!!!). If you have ever seen his VLVS stamp line, you come about as close to understanding his sense of humor as you can get! He is also one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. I had the pleasure of demo-ing at his booth at a Carson, CA, convention last March. It was just a couple of weeks after my 80-yr. old Father-in-law had fallen off the roof and was seriously injured. It was a hard time for our family and I needed the break from it really bad. Those of you who were on the list at the time know the whole story, so I won't get into it now. Anyways, Stampo gave me the opportunity to work at the booth and even let my sister-in-law who went with me help work in the booth also. Stampo and the others who worked the booth were great to us. They made us feel welcome and needed there. As a result of working in his booth at the convention and also spending some time seeing the stamped cards displayed at the convention, my sister-in-law has begun to stamp. She had never stamped before working in Stampo's booth! She, too, has nothing but good to say about him. Each time we talk, she asks how he is. She is also a frequent visitor to his web site. BTW, Stampo, my 14 yr. old daughter still remembers you leaving a message on my answering machine and says you have a sexy voice for a man your age!!!! Tablet for notes and recording what company um's are from. 7. Signing up in plenty of time to take stamp classes. (don't know how to go about doing this.) 8. If they have a rubber pit, that is where bargains in um's are. 9. When you get your program, go visit vendors you most want to see, rather than stroll randomly. 10. Place thins out around lunch time, so if you have your own snacks and drink, you can stay and not be in long lines. 11. Bring two ways of paying for things cash and cc. so you can speed along if cash is faster 12. Watch out for pickpocets. 13. Take gummed address labels or a stamp of your address to simplify filling out addy on mailing lists. 14. Go with a friend. 15. Arrive early. 16. The outside of the priority mail envy was decorated with talking dolphins and more, letting me know that my SS package was included. I tried to tear into that package, but it took some doing to get it open - the Evos really know how to tape up an envy and keep it all in there! A note from Evo, letting me know what was what and what I owed for what I had ordered. And then, in a beautiful light copper colored paper - not tissue paper, but heavier - was the SIX new sheets of rubber! All fresh cooked, just for me! And three stampable boxes, just right for snowman poop, I'd say. Since my SS knows I love Evolving Images, this was guaranteed to be a HUGE hit with me! Leaves, wonderful, wonderful leaves! I try to turn everything into a scene or vignette. I really don't like these kinds/styles of stamps/stamping: I'm not a Griffith & Sabine -type stamper. I just don't see what the fuss is all about. I like beautiful work. I don't like supernatural images. Country is okay, but I like more a realistic style. I first discovered rubber stamping: My big sister gave me a few stamps as gifts over the years. I just threw them in a drawer. Then I got sick and was looking for something to do. OH-OH, in no time I was addicted. I emboss my stamping sometimes. Not as much as I used to because since I discovered the Printworks' watercolor pads, my markers don't smear my image so I don't need to emboss. I like to make my own paper. I like to fool around. I like to collect dry plant material and add it to scrap computer paper pulp. I could get into this. I like to buy a ream of paper that I know I'll use---like cloud paper or Kromecote. I like to have a sheet or two of all colors on hand. I still like to buy embossing powders and inks even though I don't use them so much anymore. There is jus so much out there to tempt you. I don't buy many word sayings and text stamps because I'd rather print the message and save my money to buy an image stamp. I love beautiful stamps. I don't own a teddy bears, sheep or country cute stamp. i like a lot of that type of work that I see. It just isn't my style. When people see my cards they say "Wow! That's neat!" When people see my cards they sometimes say "This is so funny! When people see my cards they say "Whoa! How did you DO that??" The people at the post office know me by name. I go about twice a week to buy stamps and have stuff weighed. it's almost embarrassing. My mail carrier wonders about why I always have so much outgoing mail in my box, why I get all those strange, decorated envelopes and why I rush out to get the mail. I wish I were a computer whiz. I would like to teach rubberstamping classes. I have given talks on mail art, postoids, etc. I pick and choose my swaps. Now that I am in a sketchbook club, I do fewer swaps. I got burnt out doing 10 of everything and had no time to play around and be creative. However, I love envelope swaps---especially Queen Rubberheart's. I just moved to Arizona from Illinois. I had never lived outside of Illinois. We moved because my husband wanted to be a cowboy/gold prospector. I left 2 garden clubs and 1 stamp club full of friends. Not to mention good neighbors and all the girls at work. Plus my beautiful house and 22 years of landscaping and flower beds. I love Arizona, but if it weren't for my mail friends, I would REALLY be feeling sorry for myself. No, I'm okay. I'm adjusting. I'm taking Drawing 101 at the local junior college, joined a pond gardening club, converted one girl to stamping, volunteered at the library, am planning a Mediterranean herb garden, and am working on a poster to post at the nearest (50 miles) stamp store to see if anyone is interested in starting a stamp club.
