I waited overnight like you said you did. Then when it wasn't dry, I took a tissue/papertowel and wiped the rubber cement area clean of the black ink. I also tried different types of ink and the Marvys like Dee showed. Tho' the Marvy ink ended up being a blacker black, it did the same for me. The cards I did came out really well, EXCEPT that the area that had the rubber cement was HARD to clear of all the white embossing powder I used. If you find a good solution, please post it. Purchase of the Century I have lusted for an air brush. I never used one. I would often stop and watch airbrush artists at work for hours at fairs and fleamarkets. I really want to learn that technique. I told you a while back of my bargain hunt... recap below if you're interested.. Well, the Ben Franklin class didn't come off, and here I sat with a dumb noname airbrush that I couldn't get to work. Yesterday I saw an ad. A lady was moving and had for sale: a Binks air compressor, with a foot pedal switch and a PAASCHE air brush (Model H) - all for $25.00. I rushed right over to look at it. All was in perfect working order, and it was, I thought, a great deal for $25. The only thing missing was the instructions for the air brush. I bought it. I called Paasche to ask for instructions. Got phone mail but left a message. Meanwhile I went to the local art supply store, and they gave me a photocopy of the instructions and parts list from one they have in the store. While I was there I picked up a Walter Foster book, "How to Draw and Paint - Airbrush Rendering," by Gary Buckley. It was the only one they had in the store. Well this is nice, and very informative, but it assumes I know how to fill, adjust, etc the air brush (which I don't). But of course, I will experiment with it. But does anyone have suggestions for a BEGINNER'S LESSONS or INSTRUCTIONS book I could buy somewhere? Or maybe someone has gotten well beyond that point and has one themselves that they'd like to sell me? Please - input. Private would probably be best since I doubt anyone on the list would be interested in that. StamPatti, vsa & vsr Computers are life. Rubberstamping is art. TV is furniture! http://members.wbs.net/homepages/s/t/a/stampatti.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~RECAP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I bought a Noname brand air brush at the flea market last spring. Never took it out of the box until that night when I decided to try it. Well, of course, the instructions were pretty poor, but since I seldom read instructions anyway, I went right ahead and put the thing together. The paint cup just pushed into a hole, nothing to hold it in place at all, so naturally it kept falling out. And the can of propellent that came with it. Big thumbs down. As soon as I opened the valve, it started squirting air everywhere EXCEPT into the brush. And there was NO shutting it off. I couldn't get any air to spray the paint. Well I did get a splash or two (and love the look), but that was all. I unscrewed the hose from the brush and found the tiny gasket all scrunched up there, straightened it out and tried again, but never could get enough pressure from the can to make the brush work. I really didn't expect this to work well, but it was the brush I expected to have a problem with. Never thought the air would fizzle. Well anyway, I shut the valve on the brush, hoping to be able to save the air that way. NAHA! By morning the can is empty. ------------------------------ From: Smith Date: Wed, 19 Feb 1997 09:42:17 -0700 (MST) Subject: RS: Update: Newbie Round Robin NAME OF SWAP: Newbie Round Robin HOSTED BY: Rosemarie Smith ITEMS INFO: send in one card. Most of the time. Actually I have only been in 2 RS stores. I mainly collected DOTS until recently. I pick and choose my swaps, but hopefully will choose more than I skip when I have more time. The other day I was fixing to (clean the entire house) when I discovered (that my stamp room was calling to me) and decided to change my plans. As I walked in the door, the owner said "Today is your lucky day, you are our 1 millionth Customer and will receive a 1 hour Shopping spree, starting NOW!" Nonetheless, I went ahead and grabbed everything to do with rubber stamping and then some. I marched right up to the cash register, where I proceeded to unload all the goodies. I love all country clutter. I have dabbled at wall stenciling and love it. I am to short for my weight! Ha Ha I am only 5 ft.tall. And most of all I love doing things for people. I was very blessed to have a lot of support from family and friends when my youngest was born with a disease called Myasthenia Gravis and now that I can do more (he's 8 and independent) I love to give back to people in need. Especially my time ( babysitting, errands, cleaning etc....). Living in a house with 4 creatures of the opposite sex I tend to forget to pamper myself and indulge in mood setting baths etc...
