My first flame! All day long I tried to get my mail - no luck. It said, "receiving message 1 of 250" then didn't move. Then the number climbed to 270 etc until 338, so I knew mail was coming in, I just couldn't GET it! Called the server - no problem with the account...he said to be patient. Finally decided to use Eudora (I use Netscape for my mail) and it said, "Downloading message 1 of 378" and it shows you the name...it was a FWD from Marsha Surad of V.Day card fame! Now, I never downloaded it when it was a site to visit, why would it appear on my server for me all of a sudden? Nakata) Date: Mon, 17 Feb 1997 10:13:22 -0800 Subject: TOTW: What if . . . Hi All! I'm filling in for Justine who is on a mini-vacation. She asked me to propose the TOTW and collect responses, so here I am! Since this is a holiday week, I thought we'd do something whimsical instead of serious. So here's a "What if . . . " thread. What if you were going on a week-long business trip. You will be going to a rubber wasteland so there's no place to visit and you won't be around any helpful list members so there's no one to stamp with. You won't have to interact with anyone after hours, unless you choose to. You won't have any work committments except during the day. You find that after packing all the necessary clothes and personal items, you have room for one small carry-on bag (let's say the size of a small backpack). You decide to take along your favorite . . . what? I'll start. I'd pack up my newest stamps (the ones I haven't had a chance to work with yet), some scrap paper as well as a handful of different cardstocks and special papers. I'd pack up my trusty Berol Prismacolors and a bunch of LePlumes. I'd take a look at the stamps and see what colors they cried out for. Then I'd probably pack a few accessories (some Miracle Tape, foam mounting tape, a pot or two of glitter). I couldn't forget my Kai scissors (which I use to cut everything, including ums) or my regular scissors as well as three of my favorite Fiskars (deckle, heartbeat and postage). Oh yeah, gotta throw in my trusty Xacto knife and the latest issue of whichever magazine I haven't finished reading. Now I'm all set for a week of fun stamping! ------------------------------ From: "Wayne Gartley" Date: Mon, 17 Feb 97 20:09:53 UT Subject: RE: Whoever was selling the MARKER HOLDERS The marker holders have 108 slots that hold six pens each so you can store 648 pens/pencils in one. I keep a Marvy Brush one at one side of my stamping area and a Marvy Le Plume at the other side so I have everything all stored but not crowded. Before, I used up half my stamping area with those lucite stands that hold about 18 pens each. These units store them vertically so take up little space on your stamping area. They're easy to carry about as well so you could stick the unit in a closet out of sight and bring it out when you wanted to stamp if you didn't have a separate stamping area. There have been a number of e-mails about the shipping... these are packed in huge boxes to protect them and make sure they make it to you in one piece... UPS charges an oversize charge for the box so it costs us $10 per display to ship it to you. The display costs $10 so you're paying $20 PER display you order. But this is much, much cheaper than buying those lucite displays and your pens are being stored flat which is what is recommended. And just because they're Marvy doesn't mean you can't store your Tombows or colored pencils or whatever in them. Stampo (And don't forget that Marvy and Tombow color charts are available free with ANY order or by sending us a #10 SASE with 32 cents postage on it). We have Tsukineko color charts as well but they are larger and can be shipped with an order but if you're requesting one with an SASE, please send a 9 x 12 SASE with 55 cents postage on it. We have complete Marvy catalogs as well but if anyone was interested in them, I'd have to find out what the postage would be to ship them.) ------------------------------ From: franklystamping@juno.com (Deborah K.
