You really sound like a sweet person. Thank You so much for writing. I enjoyed hearing from you. This weekend my one neighbor invited me to a Pampered Chef Party. It is tommorrow. She said that at least 11 of the other neighbors are going to be there. I'm looking forward to that. A few new people have built houses around my area. So maybe I will find someone to hang out with. I miss having my girlfriends visit. We moved some distance from where I was brought up. So it's too far for my friends to just come over and watch TV and hang out. I feel such a loss not being able to do that type of thing. I tried to make friends with my only next door neighbor. And she always just seems so stand offish. I can't help telling you this really hurts my feelings. Because she is so close. I had hoped to be good buddies. Oh Well. Life is'nt always perfect. Please write again. I liked reading your letter and being able too tell you some things that were on my mind. It is a postage meter and a scale from Pitney Bowes! Since I do alot of mailing and I HATE to wait in line at the post office (which I have to do almost ALL the time), I decided to take them up on their 3 month trial offer. I get to use the postage meter and scale for free (except for postage) for 3 months. After that I either return it to Pitney Bowes, or I can rent them for about $20.00 a month. Now, I don't have to go to carry my package to the post office and wait in line to mail them off. AND it makes returning swaps much easier too. I am SOOO excited about this. My first use of it has been to weigh and put postage on the unmounted swap that will be dropped into the mail box on my next trip out of the house. Can you tell I am excited!?!?! What a great swap! Finally got my cards yesterday and I'm so glad I participated! It's so neat seeing all the different styles....... Jo - Stmpngrma - did a really neat card with layering with a gold embossed sand dollar and a teeny, tiny REAL shell! Also has a seagull glued on the card - Jo, since you didn't credit the seagull stamp, where in the world did you find this???? It's really cool! Inside her card was a little packet with a "Surprise" confetti and little confetti fish - Thanks! Chatty@erols.com made a card using a scallop stamp - one is stamped in purple and the other is stamped in a rainbow (fushia graduated to purple) ink. These are mounted on the neatest background I've ever seen - please tell us how you did it! Love the beiges, purples and greens and the silver lines running through it! Violetnut made a great "studio" size card - layering black cardstock on the white card then the top layer is three mulberry squares - two beige and one red; the red square has a silver embossed scallop in the center and the two beige squares have a gold scallop in the center of each of them. There's also some of that red squiggly paper stuff (looks like a tassle) attached for the finishing touch. Really nice, classic card! From Julie Hall (sjtjah@erols.com) - Love the stamps used on this card. Julie used a navy cardstock as her base card - stamped with with New Waves stamp and EP'd with silver. The second layer is a deep sand cardstock stamped with "Shifting Sands" and EP'd in gold and the top layer is the PSX Seashell border on beige card- stock - looks like Egytian gold EP. Simple and elegant - the kind I love the best. Finally, from Sandi Mar - well, what can I say - this is a truly remarkable card, but then I expect nothing less from a "published stamper"! :-) You guys would have to see it to believe it - an underwater scene (complete with sea vegetation, dolphins, mermaid and bubbles) stamped on a brayered and clear embossed background - very vivid colors in the brayering! Then she stamped three shells on more brayered cardstock, cut them out, EP'd with holographic and mounted them on the bottom edge of the card. Truly fantastic! Becky, this was a great swap - thanks for hosting and thanks for the little surprise goody bag! She sent a little UM, some gold cording, a gold doily and lots of stickers to let everyone know my work is hand-stamped! Thanks again, Becky - this was fun! I bought one of those cheap acrylic frames...you know the kind where you can slide a photo in and out of...and it has a pretty wide opening. I got one for my desk at school and I keep slipping different stamped cards in it...it works great for those quarter sized postcards you get in swaps (...the controversial topic of the week a while ago). Anyway, it is a great conversation piece for students and for my adult friends at work. They ooooh and aaaaah at the different ideas and the students (future stampers of america) all want to know how to do it. It's a great way to open a conversation with teenagers and I likeit when they bring in their friends from other classes to show them the latest card. The acrylic also keeps the card clean and a lot of people get to look and handle the frame. Just spray with fantastik or glass cleaner and it looks new again!!! A great way to display cards.... This has been the kind of day that makes the workweek worthwhile. First, unexpectedly, a friend invited me to a Stamping Up party, so I spent the morning stamping and learning, (spending, ) and having a great time. On the way home, I stopped by my po box. What to my wondering eyes should appear, but the catalog round robin and my secret stamper packet? I already was drooling over the Stamping up catalog I bought, but here are a bunch more really neat catalogs to look through. And my secret stamper really outdid herself. She is so organized that she has a monthly theme. She used cutting as a theme this month and sent me a Fiskars paper trimmer, Fiskars deckle scissors and Fiskars nostalgia corner scissors. What a treat. I had just purchased my first pair of the corner scissors, celestial, and love them. I am so glad to get a different pair, and the other Fiskars are greatly appreciated. I love to layer and these cutters will really come in handy. She also sent me a pack of cardstock(how did you know I almost went to the stamping store today to buy just this type of cardstock?) and a really cool Mary Englebreit magazine. I love Mary Englebreit! And I am not done yet. She also packed everything in really cool packing material which will be great to use in cards and stuff. Last but not least, she sent me a note that said I could contact Sheryl Porter for a pair of Kai scissors if I don't already have some, or a grabbag if I do. I do have the scissors, gottem from Sheryl, will e-mail her about the grabbag. Thank you secret stamper! You are terrific! What a day!
