These books not only inspire, but they serve as guides to self-teaching. Though I've only participated in a few swaps so far, I have discovered I learn from each card--I learn about design, the design, color combinations, stamping techniques, and the overall artistic vision of each stamper. Having full credits is a real help to my learning. That's why I've started to include full credits on a note affixed to the back of the card with removable (PostIt-type) glue. Sometimes I'm not as thorough as I would like to be, but I'm trying. The card itself I just sign, with my name or my name/e-mail combination. It doesn't bother me to get cards without credits--as someone said, if I want to know about how it was done, I can always ask. (And I do.) But in order to use these cards as my own personal Stamper's Sampler sourcebook...credits are a great help. paula sigman lowery ------------------------------ From: penneyg@nts-online.net (Penney Gurrola) Date: Sat, 1 Mar 1997 16:35:31 -0500 Subject: Horse Swap received This was a great swap to great in. I got some fabulous cards. Kristan Fejko- Kristan made a neat pin for this swap. The pen had a little girl riding a horse stamped and colored in. Dangling from the horses feet is a pink sign that has "Happy Trails" stamped in black. ?????- This card had a group of running horse in the front. The horses are afiixed to the card with foam mounting tape. Behind the horses is a mountain range. That mountains are on a seperate piece of paper and affixed also with foam mounting tape. The back (card) is specialty paper of blue and white. This gives the effect of clouds. This card has a wonderful 3-D effect. Rae Wooten- This card has a wonderful rustic barnyard scene complete with horse, fowl, fence, trees, and barn. All images are stamped with brown ink. This is such a peaceful card, it makes me want to go out to the country and ride a horse. In the upper left corner the quote, "In riding a horse we borrow freedom" is embossed in gold. Tntrilling- What a stunning card! A couple of horses galloping across the field are stamped with dark blue ink on white glossy paper. The card has a neat border also in blue ink. Is this all one stamp? Cindy Piet- This card along with ????'s card showed how two people can take the same stamps and come out with totally different cards. Cindy's card has the horses in front of the mountains with trees and grass. All of this was stamped in blue. At the top in black was the words "Midnight Run". Cindy sponged around the edge with dark blue. As she comes closer to the middle of the card the blue gets lighter. This creates a stupendous looking-glass effect. With the sponging done this way you feel as though you are in the woods looking out across the field. This was a super swap to be in. Holly Ryker Penney ------------------------------ From: penneyg@nts-online.net (Penney Gurrola) Date: Sat, 1 Mar 1997 16:35:16 -0500 Subject: Thank you swap received There were fabulous cards in this swap that I can't wait to make some of them on my own. This is Holly Ryker. I use Penney's E-mail t do the swaps. Stampin'Peech- This card ws great. The card was horizontal instead of vertical. The card is made out of some wonderful red paper. The bottom inch of the paper is cut off on the front flap of the card. A set of double horseshoes (All Night Media) are stamp and embossed in silver on each side of the front. In the middle stamp, colored, and cut out on white paper is a horse (Rubber Stamp Ranch) with a sign in his mouth that sayings, "Hay-Thanks!" The bottom edge of the front is lined with a silver pen and the horseshoe are stamped and embossed on the inside at the bottom so that they may be seen. Lisa Wynn- This was a neat card. Lisa used a light mauve piece of paper to make this card. on a piece of white paper she has embossed with a rainbow pad and sparkling powder a vase with flowers in it. This vase was cut out and layered of the card along with a piece of white mulberry paper. The words "Thank you" are stamped at the top in rainbow colors. Vicki Lieske- This card is super. I know I will make some of these. On a piece on off white specialty paper, there is a heart (SLL) stamped in different colors on tan paper. What does SLL stand for? This paper is layered on the card with a square of peach paper in between. The edges of both squares have their edges torn not cut. Inside stamped in black ink is the word "Thanks" (Printworks). I love this card. Maxine Bateman Lees- Maxine sent in a magnet of a postoid Thank you. The stamp has a flower pot and flower in the middle with the word Thanks on each edge (Hero Arts). I would love to know how this was made because the magnet part is not a magnet dot but the whole thing is magnetic. There is a shiny finish on top. Please E-mail and let me know how you did this magnet. Penelope- Penelope layered a white piece of glossy paper onto a hot pink card. A car driving through a huge rubber stamp with tunnnel is stamped with a rainbow pad. Thank you is stamped several time scattered over the card. The thank you are in two different sizes. Ingrid- I really liked this card. Ingrid had a flower basket setting in the middle of the page. She has colored it in and layered it with more flowers on foam mounting tape. This really added alot to the card. The words "Thank You" are stamped below the basket. As a finishing touch Ingrid cut the right edge with fiskar scissors and glued a strip of wallpaper to the inside edge. Could you please let me know where these stamps are from because I would like to make some of these cards? Princess Stamp'erfoot- On mauve paper Dana embossed in gold "Thank you" with a small swag just below in. The bottom edge has been trimmed with fiskar (?) scissors and hole have been punched to make a wonderful edge. I am going to have to try and edge that this. Debbie Malone- With a rainbow pad Debbie had stamped "Thanks" and a ! all over this front of the card. The love is stamp. Since these two stamp match, are they from a set? Where did you get it? Mary Wright- Mary did an explosion card. On the front is a flower basket that has been beautifully colored in. The paper looks to have been sponged with yellow and orange. On the explosion there are flowers that have been stamped in color with the words "Thank You" Jutta- This is a fabulous card. I love it!!!!!! This card was longer that the standard card. It is a tri-fold card with one of the outside folds glued down along its edges to the inside. On the front it had thank you in many different languages stamped in red all over (roller stamp). Then she has a BIG "Thank You" stamped in red, cut out, and layer with foam mounting tape on top of it all. In the inside two slit have been made with the Xacto knife. These slit are appr. two inches apart and in the middle. They serve as a money holder. The words "With Love and stamp in red in the middle between the two slits. Kathy- Kathy used my favorite paper (Stardust cardstock by Astro brite) to create a beautiful card that is right up my alley. I love to layer, fiskar scissors, and embellish. That is just what this card has and plenty of and in just the right amounts. Before I begin I need to know where these stamps are from? On the top layer of stardust paper is a birdhouse, two birds, several snowflakes, and a polar bear. All have been embossed in black, colored in to show shadows, and embellished in different ways. The polar bear has been flocked in white. (I wish I could get my flock to turn out this way!) The birdhouse roof has been liquid appl. and sprinked with glitter. There is glitter on the snowflakes as well. To finish up this scene the paper was cut out with fiskar scissor in an odd shape. It looked sort of like an igloo with the door on the left where the polar bear is stamped. This was glued onto a piece of turquoise paper. On the top left corner there is space on the turquoise paper to stamp "Thanks" and some more snowflakes. These have been embossed in white. This paper is cut out in a rectangle with another pair of fiskar scissors then attached to the card. What a fabulous card!!!! Sherie Evers- I like this card also. Sherie has layered a piece of pink paper on top on a hunter green card. The pink paper is edged in gold and has "Thank You" embossed in magenta at the bottom right corner. Next, Sherie has a heart cut out of hunter green paper, corrugated it, and glued it in the top left corner. She finished up with a ribbon tied in a bow on top of the heart. The ribbon has pink heart and green designs. This was a great card. This was a great swap. Thank you for hosting it Ginny.
