It was a fantastic movie. It was sooo funny and sad and touching. I expected Jack Nicholson to be excellent and he did not disappoint me. Greg Kinear was a surprising gem. I positively loved this movie. I can't stop thinking about it. As a matter of fact, I'm supposed to go to the movies with a friend this weekend and I hope to see it again. Tomorrow we plan to see "Titanic". Hopefully it will be as good as the reviews I've heard. We saw "Amistad" a couple of weeks ago and my husband fell asleep through it. I thought it was a bit long, but enjoyed it anyway. Can you tell we're great movie buffs!! Hope everyone had a great day. I was very spoiled by my husband and son. My husband gave me a $50 gift certificate from my favorite local stamp store. (He also gave me heaps of other things, including gift certificates for two pedicures! Funny, he had never had a pedicure before we met and thought they were only for women. I talked him into getting one with me and now he's hooked on them. He even talked one of his friends into having a pedicure and now his friend gets them too!) My son gave me a circle cutter (the one I wanted!) and a $20 gift certificate from my fav stamp store (as well as several other things). I was very spoiled indeed! I have to return the slippers I bought my husband for a bigger size and I have to return one item I bought for my son. I don't look forward to hitting the stores to return these items. At least neither came from the mall. Somehow I managed to do this year's shopping without stepping foot in the mall!! I must admit this was an extremely tough Christmas for me, in the past year I lost my most 3 closest friends in this lifetime so far. Two I lost to cancer and the other you all heard of when he died in a motorcycle accident. I know there are alot of people on this list that had a hard Christmas this year too. And my heart goes out to all of you! Next Year will be better. I have always been a very big Holiday type person, but this year I just let it pass by in order to get through it. I didn't even put up my decorations or a tree, but like I said next year will be better. I got through this one and I've glad of that. It was a quiet day, we usually have alot of people in and out all day, but not this year, it was just the two of us. Most of our friends had family or other places they needed to be, but that's ok. We all made it through this one. I am so glad that I found this list and I thank your for listening to me. God Bless you everyone. Well, I got a rubber stamp from Under the Rubber Tree...a friend went to St. Croix and was so surprised to find rubber stamps there. :) I also got a cool self-inking (well, sort of. It rests on an inkpad, but it isn't an inkpad inside if you know what I mean.) Victorian initial stamp (so I can brand everything with a "C" :) That's from my mom and dad and they also gave me one of those confetti punches that has several on a wheel? And my sister sent me a box of Mrs. Grossman fantasy stickers plus some cats and gymnasts (which I'd never seen before.) Among my mom's family, we all draw names (too many people to give to all!) My cousin's wife of a few months got my name....she's now my favorite cousin! She sent me a whole bunch of beads and leather to string them on and also a silver cat pendant. I swear, we've only met once and she knows my tastes better than most of the cousins I grew up with. But best of all--though not stamp-related--I got my doll! Santa has always brought me a doll. This year it was "Josefina" from the American Doll catalog...although I've renamed her "Lupe" because I don't think "Josefina" is very pretty and besides, she looks like a "Lupe". I was so surprised, though, because my mom had me pretty much convinced that I wouldn't get her. I thought I might get *a* doll, but probably one less expensive. So I was thrilled. She received 19 cards. WOW!!!!!!! She loved every one of them. Mom wanted me to thank you all so much for the cheer through the mail. I'll get on with the descriptions. I know I will never do justice to these pieces of happiness. The order of these are by Country, State, Last Name. >From Canada Carole Mork: Her artwork is shown off in a clear envy. (Mom was going to open it with a letter opener) Her card has PSX roses embossed in red on off white paper. There are also several layers and then stamped with a "For You" that has a rose and a "Thinking of you" embossed in green. The white layer is mounted on a red layer. It is a very pretty card. >From the USA California Amy Masai: She starts with white card stock. The stamped in white on a deep red is What I think is Laurel Burch a group of women with their hands interlocked. This is in a cut out of the top card stock of a white with confetti. Then she writes under the picture "sisters" One of the corners are decorated with a corner punch. Michele Pryor: She started with a glossy ivory/yellow card stock she has stamped a beautiful trio of angels stamped in a burgundy/purple (these are gorgeous) and these are masked with an oval and then a background type stamp was used in I think blues and lavenders. There are 2 angel phrases inside. This card has the good housekeeping seal of approval inside the envy. Ruth Soldavini: She started with a bright purple card with "Hello" stamped inside. Outside is a layer of vellum tied on with a lavender ribbon. There is an oval frame with flowers embossed with a white sparkly ep and delicately colored in. Inside the frame is a nice phrase "Caring thoughts are with you..." embossed with the same sparkly ep. Jenny Wu: She decorated the back of the envy with colored pencils and stamped springtime things. On a textured ivory card stock she stamped 5 birds sitting on a tree limb with flowers in a delicate brown and what looks like watercolors. It is so springlike and shaded beautifully. Mom loved the guys you sent!! Terri Bradbury: She used a really pretty corner stamp and used 2 different colors in the 2 bottom corners of the envy. The cared starts with a pale pink card stock. Mounted smaller is a fairy holding purple flowers and there is a basket by her feet with hearts and a teddy bear and it says "faith and hope" on the banner. I think this is colored with watercolors. It's so pretty she has long hair and glittery wings. Above this is a dark pink ribbon tied in a bow. Inside is stamped "Wishing you a day bright with sunshine... warm with love". Florida Jackie Fraser: She used a dark green wallpaper envy. This is such an interesting card. There is a great corner stamp that was stamped by going around a rainbow ink pad. There is a layer of rainbow of a different color. Mounted on the top of that is a seal (prairie dog?) taking a bubble bath in a pink bathtub. The card is on white paper and it opens funny :o) When it is open it's like a 3-sided card that stand up. There is a star that folds out from the middle. It's such an interesting star, I can't even begin to describe it! On the floor of the card is a vellum layer that has "Wishing you a wonderful day" stamped on it. Mom used the card you enclosed as a bookmark! She read 2 books while in the hospital. Jerry pirated the happy face confetti!! Illinois Tricia Bardell: She starts with a white card and mounts a dark green straight cut card and then a deckle cut white card. On this she used stencils. This has flowers in the corner and twigs as a border. inside that border is a green colored lines and dots border and a "thinking of you" border and the lines and dots and then a dry embossed square with a pair of rosebuds embossed in black and colored in. This is so intricate and pretty! Massachusetts Marcia Balonis: This is an interesting opening card. She embossed a lion hung up in a tree in gold and mounted his mane and head to stick out through the branches. When we open the card it's facing the inside. Inside she stamped "Hang in there". Well Marcia, she did! Maine Victoria Flaherty: She started with a white card. Then she layered vellum. On the vellum she stamped a K sized PSX rose and embossed in white and colored in on the back. There is a pretty pink ribbon that matches the rose and runs down the side. Did you use the same white ep on the deckle edge? It's a pretty and well done card. Michigan Reah Feiertag: Mom got a kick out of the waiter holding the stamp on the envy!! She started with an Ivory card stock and layered a golden rectangle. Then she layered a beautifully cut piece of burgundy mulberry paper. On this is mounted a pair of band aids embossed in silver sparkle on the same golden card stock. Inside she stamped "hope you're feeling better soon!" Mom also liked the band aids for a get well card :o) Missouri Cindy Campbell: She started with red card stock and layered a border of embossed daises in black and beautifully colored. She also sponged in blue as a background. Over the border is a mounted bee flying around. Jerry loves the bee! There is also a "Thinking of you" embossed in black. Kaye Mills: This is an oversized card.Starting with a white card, the center focus is a beautiful, colorful, sparkly butterfly. I don't know what she used to color, but it is very vibrant. There is a pretty bow embossed in burgundy in the upper corner and colored with burgundy. The tone on tone is a great idea. All over the card is gold embossed tiny suns. That adds so much to the card! I'm not sure if the inside phrase is a stamp or computer generated, but it fits the card so well. New Hampshire Don "Peter Pan" Glaser: Such a simple and wonderful card. On white card stock, is a Precious Moments little boy knelt down in prayer with his teddy bear. Nicely colored and shaded! The phrase inside is perfect, "I'm holding you in my heart, and hugging you in my prayers" What a nice sentiment! Linda "giggles" Skirvin: She started with a mauve columns card stock. Put a layer of what looks just like stained glass (wow) Then she embossed an angel on a cloud in a sparkly gold. She has such beautiful handwriting. I want to write like her when I grow up! Oregon Tonia Gorres(?): She knows how to combine Stamping and computer generated cards. First the envy- It's decorated with a castle sitting by a lake with mountains in the distance and a line of pine trees in the foreground. I never thought about decorating an envy like this! The card os done on a textured ivory card stock. There is a wizard with his staff and crystal ball. He looks so real! I think he was masked and then a bluish color was sponged around him as a background. Texas Barbara Blanks: She started with a dark green duplex card stock. On the green side there is a round gold seal that is etched with a mission/church. (did yo do that freehand? wow) In a lower corner is a layer that has what looks like shepherds staring at the bright star over Bethlehem. On the white side she colored using an orangy color and she used a BLITZER! There are 2 trumpeting angels stamped in blue and purple and a candle stamped in green, blue, and red. Then a "Joy to the World" stamped in dark purple. Utah Lori Nelson: She started with a deep purple textured card stock. This card was done in layers. The next layer is pink and then a layer of vellum with a beautiful rose embossed in gold and delicately colored in. She attached the vellum with a pretty pink ribbon. Such a lovely card! Wisconsin Mona Everett: She sent this in a clear envy. She has this as a middle opening card tied with a bright red ribbon. There are 2 cat stamps. One is 2 cats sitting together with their tails enter twined and a heart over their heads, the other is a Kliban cat holding a heart. These are on opposite corners. On the other corners are painted hearts with one saying "love" and the other saying "is".On the ivory ones is the word "Meow" and there are silver paw prints on the blue. This is a hidden message card! When you open the inside, there alternates cat stamps with "I love my cat" phrases. What a neat card! Mary Krause: This is so pretty. She has a spattered background with blue on white. There are 2 lady bunny's hugging colored with pencils I think. She stayed in the lines much better than I do. She used a decorative scissor on the white at the bottom of the card and then she put a dark blue layer and used the same decorative edge. I like the "Get Well Soon" banner across the inside. Virginia Carol Roop: She begins with a blue wallpaper envy with little flowers on it. The same wallpaper is on the card . Starting with a bright pink card stock she layered the wallpaper and then stamped a "thinking of you" at the top corner. Then she stamped, colored, and cut out a little girl holding flowers. Then there's a "Get well soon" inside the card. I love the idea of using the same wallpaper on the card as you used for the envy. Thank you all for the wonderful cards for my mom. She wants to take the time to thank each one of you personally. Knowing her, it'll take time. Take a few weeks, write or have written a new resume, and then start looking. You will find that there are a lot of good doors out there to open, so don't take a job until it feels right. I was paying a fortune to mail out our catalogs until I discovered that! I made up labels on the computer and stick them on the envelopes. The post office said you needed a label or a rubber stamp but where would I get a rubber stamp?
