For those who don't know me, I have a small stamps and supplies store on the Gulf Coast of MS. I have a special for embossing powders - plain colors, sparkles, rainbows, pearls, tapestries and others - a Baker's dozen (in small zip top bags) for 12.50 (sh/h incl.). Glitters are ultra fine and same deal for them. Remarkable papers (double sided adhesive paper) 1.99 a 7x 10 sheet. There is some red and blue 3/4", stampable ribbon left for .15 a yard. Foam core and matte boards .25 for 6 x 6" sheet. (Matte boards may be larger and in colors) Address is Stampz 'N Stuff, 628 Washington Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Thank you all. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas (although I read where some didn't). For those of you who don't have access to wallpapers, I have picked up some papers that are so gorgeous it is hard to believe anyone can be so creative. I found one group that looks like the DeNami stamps. I am making up grab bags of wallpaper, papers, foam core and matte boards. There will be a good variety and if there is a specific type of scene or background, such as flowers, plain colors, stripes, etc. let me know and I will make it specially with that design. This will be put into a mail pack as full as I can get it and sent priority. Total is 6.00 for all. That splotchy effect can come in handy as a filler on a "too white" card. Also, try putting the pen in the little hole thingy at different heights. I used to think, "now what am I going to do with this?" Then I was the lucky recipient of ex fast posto's treasure book class and my mind started racing with ideas. Little pieces of fancy paper are great for covers, pages, etc. Also, in the latest Somerset, there is an article on mini folios. Those are really cool. I made and "emergency kit" of Rubber Stamping supplies. I have been in and out of the hospital a zillion times it seems over the years and even though very ill, when I start to feel even the slightest bit better I want something to keep me busy. My type A personality just can waste time even when I am gravely ill... Or when I have traveling I have to do I am not one who can sit back and read the flight emergency manual on a plane or sit in a car and watch the scenery of a hundred miles of corn fields. So I made the kit yesterday and set it aside... Taped it closed so it won't fall open if I need someone to bring it to me... Here's what I included in the kit: Sticker Paper White card stock cut in half (from 8 1/2 x 11) white envelopes postage stamps a good selection of small to medium rubber stamps included were: short verse floral funny postoid funny religious animal victorian embossing powders in 10 different colors embossing ink 2 different glitters glue a good variety of the 1" sizes of inks some acid free paper markers blow pens water color pencils oil pastels baby wipes dot-o-'s small paint brush rafia stickers in a nice variety Sothch tape mounting tape I still am missing one thing and that is because I only have one heat tool... so I will most likely get another just so I can put one in this emergency kit. The kit is in an old sewing box I have here and since it is "yellow" it will be easy for someone to find if necessary... I showed my other half where to find it and what it looked like so he can bury it in the back of his mind and if it is ever needed he can get it with ease and not have to dig around looking for things for me...(which drives him crazy). I am sure that I could have put a dozen more items in the kit, but I wanted to stay with some of the basics and enough of the smaller extras as possible so I could still make some nice compositions if I had the energy or inclination to do so in a variety of "emergency" situations. Of course I can always open the kit if I need one of the stamps I put in there...but with the large number of stamps I have here It is not likely that I will need one of these stamps in the all to near future but they were perfect for the "emergency" kit. Well I just thought I would share this with you so that if any of you were thinking of making such a kit you might want to consider some of what I consider the basic... Most important KEEP THE AMOUNTS SMALL. On all of the items I put in there I only used a small amount of any item.. including the various paper items I chose. I did think about including stencils and an embossing tool but decided against it because of IV's and such that are not pleased when they are disturbed by such pressure needed to use these tools. And if they were in the kit I would be tempted greatly to use them. And if traveling there is just to much "bumping" around to be able to work well with stencils. So this is what I call the "must have" emergency stamping kit. It has lots of pictures and there are some really clear directions and suggestions. This Somerset is one of the best yet. I just love that magazine. Also the article on the Gifted Line stickers is good. Anyone on the list sell those??? I know that sometimes it will cost more (or less) to return them, but it is easier for me to do it like this. Even though that is what I *ask* for in my posts, I sometimes get "extra" postage. I am not organized enough to keep track of that, and since I did not ask for it in the first place, I use it to make up the differences on any packages that need more. I know I still end up buying extra stamps, but it is so much easier for me to just take the whole bunch of packages to the PO and say "stamp 'em". In some of my postings, I suggest that $3 Priority postage is easiest (it is!), but I would never require a participant to send in that much. Many swappers (me, included) usually do send in the $3 stamp. That allows the hostess to get a free box or tyvex envy from the PO to send everything back in and keeps the math simple. It sounds like we have a lot of very organized hostesses on this list, who have a bookkeeping system all set up for managing swap postage--I am not one of them (ha, ha)--but I will get your packages swapped and back out as promised, and I think that is the thing most swappers care about. If a swapper does not want to "contribute" extra postage to the hostess to help cover costs of other people's packages, just don't send any extra along. Basically, I believe each hostess has the right to make up her own mind how she will handle postage and needs to let her participants know up front what is required. Participants ought to carefully read the posting and follow the postage guidelines for each swap. If someone doesn't send enough in, then the hostess has to decide what she is going to do about it. I think it is a pretty individual decision. My 2 cents. Mona This message was from CowPost - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
