The real thin ones seem to puncture easily & leak powder all over the place. The only time I use a container is when I am marbleing. It's sort of hard to do that with baggies. PK Stamper NO I use the plastic sandwich "containers" - like rubbermade kind or such! These are the best...easy to stack etc. Never tried the baggie syste...I would think to easily they would puncture for sure...not that brave! I agree with Nicky, that you should purchase your bird from a breeder, not a pet store. I myself own a blue parakeet named Chopper, and a Dutch Blue Crown Lovebird named Peeps. The lovebird was purchased from a friend of mine who breeds them. He was hand fed by her, and was totally tame when I got him, and is still tame as can be. Does tricks and everything. The parakeet was bought from a pet store. The owners of this store are also friends of mine, and helped me out alot when I had a snake. Pet store parakeets are often totally wild, mine included. I clipped his wings right away, and then left him alone for a few days to adjust. He is still not truely tame, but he will sit quietly on my finger or shoulder. Most store birds are like this, as they are mass raised, and raised by their parent birds. As far as handfeeding goes, that can be tricky. You can easily rupture their esophagus, or cause abcesses if not done right. Even I would not tackle that right now. And I've had birds for awhile now. BUT, hand fed birds are the easiest to acclimate into a new home. Well, I don't know if I've helped much, but I would encourage you to get another bird. They are enjoyable little creatures. I caught my lovebird swinging upside down like a pendulum the other day, and just burst out laughing. He is such a brat! The parakeet is trying to talk. When he does, I'm going to teach him to say Here Kitty kitty kitty! We are going to add another addition to our bird family this summer. I'm going to get a Quaker Parakeet. They are larger than a regular parakeet, and much more vocal. Good luck! And let me know when and if you get another bird! You can take paper trash as long as it is all one color, and make it *really* wrinkled(smash it up good). Then use the rubbons and you'll get a really neato background paper. I've used them on dry embossed thins to show the relief and on corrugated paper. If you are into backgrounds, this is a must have. - ----------------------------------- From: "Christine L. Cox" A friend and I were playing with my metallic rub-ons last night and we discovered a really neat thing. She was working on a layered card that looked like it had potential but it wasn't quite "right" and the colors didn't quite match. When the layers were all glued together she smeared rub ons over all the layers and it brought the whole card "together." It was really quite a transformation. I really like those things and I've just barely started exploring their possibilities. - ------------------------------------ From: WubbuWu Use black cardstock, black EP (regular, the fine doesn't work well for this), and bold images. I usually use Chinese characters (2.5" or so), but the ones I make with the Celtic medallions from Red Castle are way more popular (Hi Phil!). Emboss the image on the cardstock. Once you have one or several images embossed, just take the metallics and rub 'em on (fingers work best). I start with the dark bronzes and golds. Smear 'em & smudge 'em, then wipe it off with a tissue. They won't stick to the embossed image. Rub them on randomly in swirls, to completely cover the cardstock and make a multi metallic base. Then I usually rub on a few colors, blue, green, and pink, in small amounts. That's it. You can either dump clear EP over the whole card for a nice effect, or let the card sit for a few days until it's completely dry. I usually mount them onto a nice creamy earthtone (pale) flecked cardstock, leaving about 1/8" of the light showing around the black piece. - --------------------------------------------------- WarmHugs Angelhrt/Tyra cloud9@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~cloud9/ ********************************************************* God gives us memories so we might have roses in December ********************************************************* This message was from "***Cloud 9***" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I just spoke to them this morning, and they have changed their policy to a quantity minimum on individual stamps. Since I do not stock any inventory, I will not be ordering from this company. I am a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant, also, and I have to stock inventory for that, and my house just isn't large enough to accommodate inventory for stamps, too. I have spoken to HA two times within the last week and a half, and nobody told me about this change until today when I had to call and get a code # for Mona. If I had known, I would never have posted. I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. ~Sandy~ :-) This message was from "Sandy McDaniel" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Rilling) Subject: RS: AD:Bead or Tissue Grabbags I came across some wonderful beads recently. I have made them into grabbags. Each one contains approximately 50 or so beads and rhinestones, mostly beads. These are ethnic and metallic beads. These would be wonderful on Southwestern, or natural looking cards. I am selling them for $3.50 each or 3 for $10. Postage is $.55 per grabbag. To order please email me with how many and your payment method. I will send these to your SS also. I have 5 of these grabbags available. They each contain 25-30 sheets of tissue or unusual printed paper. They are large size sheets, the usual size tissue comes in. I am selling these for $7 plus postage which will cost $3. Please email me ASAP to reserve yours. This is probably all I can get of these. Thanks.
