What a powerful movie. And, yes, I did cry a little both times. LOL It was just amazing! I guess the the main thing that saddens me is the way the "poorer" people were treated by being "caged" in. I think that that is such a horrid thing. The other is that the amount of life boats were nowhere near what was needed for the amount of passengers on board. I agree with you Ellen, on the point of the men allowing the women and children to be separated from them so they could be saved. We don't loose power often in this neighborhood because the wires are underground...The problem is that some of the feeder lines to the neighborhood are not under ground. Two people have gotten stuck, so far that I have seen, in the drift in front of our house. We actually had the snow plow go through our neighborhood again this evening...That is a first! As I said earlier there was one year in the last eleven+ that a plow came into the neighborhood, but this is the first time it has gone through twice in one day! Here's how I deal with it. I use my computer's word processor to print out a sentiment, phrase, or poem on a lovely paper - maybe matching, maybe contrasting. I set the page to be two columns. Depending on if my card is landscape or portrait, that's how I set my page. Then if portrait, the sentiment is typed in the second column. Select an appropriate font and size. Then copy it and paste it again in the second column (or a different phrase - your decide), centering the two phrases so that each fits nicely on the right hand side of the page, one in the top half and one in the bottom half. For landscape, type the phrase in the bottom half of column one and the bottom half of column two. Then when printed, cut the sheet in half, and fold. If you want to trim the pages a little so they fit inside the card, you might use fancy trimmers. Also, sometimes I'll use a corner punch on these, and perhaps a small stamped image that works with the sentiment or complements the front of the card. I run a short strip of double stick tape along the seam, and put the printed insert into the card. Add a ribbon or bit of raffia or even sisal string/twine, if you like. This makes a lovely professional looking card. You might even use vellum as the insert. Generally, I make up a whole bunch of these and keep them ready to use when I need a card. --`--,--{@ Patti in Fort Myers, FL @}--`--,-- ~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~^~:~ Computers are life. Ever since the list was down about two weeks ago, when something was being done to the server, many of us are reporting that our posts take much longer to reach the list. I used to typically get about 50 messages in the AM (which had accumulated between 2 AM and 7:30 AM, and about 75-100 when I got home from work at 3:30-4:00 PM. Then over the evening, another 100-150 would come in between 4:00 and 2:00 AM. Now, the pattern is exactly the opposite: I wake up to 150 messages, and only get 50 when I get home, with another 100 or so over the evening. Your letter (the one I am responding to presently has a time of 8:37 AM. I believe we are in the same time zone (I'm in the East). I last downloaded at 7:00 PM, and it hadn't appeared then. I just dialed in again, at 10:00 PM, and here it is--that's at least ten and a half hours it took to appear, and as many as many as thirteen and a half. That is objectively far longer than it used to take before this server update. - --Lisa >In a message dated 98-01-12 05:40:23 EST, krueger@earthlink.net writes: > ><< Just so you all know...my mail is coming in slow too!!!
