It's a real type of dish. I did a search on it on the web, but didn't find an exact match. I think it was called "timpano" or "timpani" ("timbale"?) in the movie. There are recipes out there for various types of timpano made with different ingredients but none identifying themselves as "the" one from the movie. There was an article on "big Night" in the Washington Post that had a tantilizing reference to it with "see box at right" but of course in the web version there was no box... A couple of suggestions: * Ask on rec.food.cooking or rec.food.recipes newsgroups. They get these kinds of questions often and people can be very helpful. * A lot of newspapers' food section has a column where you can write in and ask for a specific recipe--sometimes the editors answer it and sometimes they ask for other readers to send it in. * Try looking in the bookstores--I'll bet there's a recipe book based on Big Night out there somewhere. It might have a chairman or a secretary, primarily to be organized enough to reserve space or to remember who'll bring trash bags for the post-meeting clean up. Important basics: 1) clean stamps promptly, yours or any you use 2) don't contaminate borrowed ink pads (blending should only be done with ones own pads) 3) don't use permanet ink on a borrowed stamp without the owner's specific permission to do so Primary techniques: 1) masking 2) partial inking (with fiber-tipped pens) +++++ I consider embossing to be advanced. I corrected the problem I hope. Must let the listees know of two wonderful vendors. Shaunna was ablosutely terrific, very promp and efficient. Kept me informed when check received, when she was going to mail, etc. and in a few days the parcel was her. I will certainly use her again. Also Jutta was right on target too. Both were very dependable and prompt. Highly recommend either for you newbies in case your feet are cold about ordering from vendors. From a very ver satisfied customer. Does anybody on this list know how to tell the difference between the real and fake ones that are on the market. I've heard the difference is in the hang tag, but maybe that's only to a trained eye. Also, can any of you confirm the rumor about the 1st 12 per store actually be different than the rest that are coming out. I'm hearing a different story from every store that I go to. I'm sorry I bought the stinking thing at this point. If I could return it, I would. I bought it as an investment and I might just as well have thrown my money away. I have degenerate disk disease so am missing 3 disks, 1 in my neck and 2 in low back. I have extensive Osteoarthritis and pinched nerves in my neck and low back, fibromyalgia, Sleep Apnea , glaucoma and a few little things. But I am on permanent Social Security disability ( which took me 2 yrs to get)and I have a handicap sign on my car too. I have been *Yelled* at for taking a handicap place. I'm 48 but look younger and don't go out of the house without make-up , so I know what you mean about the "invisible" disability! I've had a ton of physical therapy too. I 've had surgery on 1 shoulder , 1 knee and both hands. I need surgery on the other shoulder because I have "Rotator cuff tendonitis". I can't take the anti-inflammatory drugs like Motrin because I've taken them so long in the past that I have stomach ulcers. When I tell someone I can't do such 'n such, they give me strange looks. My son's were young when I became disable and I have had to curtail their sports and such because I just can't stand outside in the cold, etc. I completely understand your points and want you to know that you are not alone.
