What I didn't like about that was that sometimes the stamp didn't stick very well, coming off at any given time. Imagine you've just spent an hour working on a card, carefully masking and placing stamps, then you lift your final image and PLOP! it falls back down on the card in a totally inappropriate place, leaving a ghost of the first image (unless you used really wet ink, then you get the whole thing over again)- Lucky you! HALOS sticks to the mount and stays stuck til you pull it off. And with HALOS you don't need to mess with cushion, as the loop acts like the cushion. I didn't have the best source of cushion and the quality was not always consistent. And the vinyl shrinks, so if you choose this method over HALOS (perish the thought!), be sure to leave a good 1" of vinyl around the UM & cushion. Not only should that prevent the vinyl shrinkage problem (if you cut right to the edge of the cushion it'd expose sticky stuff-euw.), but it should help with getting the UM to stick too (more surface to stick). Good luck either way; both use clear acrylic mounts, which I could not live without (well, except on "kerplunk" stamps, you know, where one stamp makes a whole card.) Oh, and yes, I sell HALOS, but since I didn't say COMM up there, feel free to e-mail me for more information. This was a great post to read ... well written and to the point (I think)! Ant Judy H. - -------------------snip--------------- >>The thread "Do you Stand Behind Your President ?" has caused me to do a great deal of thinking. (OHMYGAD !!!) I think I have read all of the posts and responded to many. The following is my conclusions. (BIG DEAL YOU SAY !) From the moment a person decides he (or she) would like to become a Presidential Candidate that persons life becomes a target. A physical target as well as a moral target. It must take a great deal of courage to open ones self (and the family as well) to such danger. If the person is "Lucky" enough to receive the nomination of their political party, this peril persists through the election and if elected until death (and after) Whether on not this person has ever served one moment in the armed forces...he/she is at this point laying his/her life on the line for the sake of the country. It is the premise of this nation that all persons are considered innocent until PROVEN guilty (unless you are very wealthy , politically connected - -OR of course THE PRESIDENT) The very rights that our President is in office to protect and defend (just as if he is in the military) he is not privileged to receive. (Democrat or Republican- it makes no difference ) Unlike in decades past, if a sexual allegation is made- the "PARTNER" has nothing to loose. In the30's, 40's, 50's one would ruin their reputation by admitting having had a dalliance- even with the President. NOW- she will land a book offer, be offered untold amounts of money by the tabloids, could end up in the movies, hit all of the talk shows and at any rate become very rich...whether the story is a complete lie or the truth. Her reputation will not be completely tattered...she becomes a celebrity ! She can have vast amounts of cosmetic surgery to improve her looks and physical stature. In years to come when people see her they will say "Well look at her, SHE'S BEAUTIFUL, and that BODY, well of course HE did it !" In the interim- OUR PRESIDENT continues to work 18 hours a day...working on the problems of the nation, the world, and the home front. Every meal he eats is scrutinized, every word he speaks is picked apart, every honest emotion he feels is judged. I thank GOD every day that I live in this country : That there are and always have been men that will go to war to protect me and my family : That there are men "FOOLISH" enough to run for the office of PRESIDENT of the UNITED States of America (did I say UNITED- oh yes that what it says) and put up with all of this %#*@ thanks for listening ! Do I need to do something I don't know about = in order that my business is accepted? I've gone so far as to check that = my message have been properly transmitted (and they have been). =20 At this point, I probably won't place orders with these vendors should = they ever reply. I would, however, appreciate any insight into this = predicament. After all the conversations about vendor accountability, I expected = better customer service. >> This message was from FranRShaw@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling = Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. There's a heavy gag order on that testimony. And even if he did, what has that got to do with having one in the White House? That's a fishbowl! If he--or anyone--managed an affair there, they should be made head of the CIA after they leave office, as they are obviously first class covert activity material. Good for you, Diana--who could live in that sort of fishbowl, and not go nuts? Not I! I think our political campaigns alone are enough to disgust any voter! Never talk of issues, just blatant besmirching of character. Allegations are accepted as fact, without any proof, or need for proof. On every side. I don't know how to make it stop, but it sure makes it difficult. Even when I want to find how a candidate stands on an issue, sometimes I can't. Have to vote blind, sometimes AGAINST rather than FOR. But I have always voted, every election, and will continue to do so as long as I live, because I feel that the folks who DON'T vote are the ones who helped get us into this mess. I haven't seen a really good--in the sense of moral, ethical good--candidate since the days of McGovern, McCarthy (Eugene, that is), Humphrey and Muskie. There's always something. I think it's a shame when a perfectly respectable word like "liberal" is made to seem smarmy and evil, and since when is an open mind and a caring attitude for others smarmy and evil? Since some politicos told us it was. Ugh. We have only ourselves to blame--we get what we ask for, and isn't that a horrible thing to contemplate. My grandfather said there were two big disappointments in life--one, not getting what you want, and two, getting what you want. I don't know what the answer is, but I don't think it is milllions and millions spent on advertising like the Willie Horton ads or the ads full of hate and innuendo, for no matter which side. Think of what you could do for the homeless and the sick with all that money!
