I don't have one of >these...and want to know if I "need" one. What do you all use it for? Let me see if I can explain this right. This is my usual January card. What you need: Stamp Positioner with tracing paper or acrylic Green Paper Santa Face Stamp Marvy Markers White Out Pen White Fun Flock Black Pigment Ink Black EP Fold the Green Paper to make a card. Using your Stamp Positioner and a light gray marker, stamp the Santa Face in the upper corner of the card. Color it in using the usual red for the hat and the White Out Pen for the beard and where the hat fur is. Be sure to use the flesh colored marker for the face(very important)! Using your Stamp Positioner, place the santa face in the same place you previously stamped it. Stamp the santa face with black pigment ink and emboss with black ep. Then use the white fun flock on the white colored in areas. You could also use red fun flock on the hat. Then your project needs a name like airsick santa. Stamp the name under the face in a wavy line. Write a story to go with it inside the card and send it out in January. Because my stamping area is broken down, This is the card you were supposed to get this January! What problems are you having? C'mon, give details! I'll start: Working on shaker cards for the Happy Rubber Stamp Swap. Am having problems figuring out what to use with the big plaid background stamp? I could probably use anything with it, but... And I've tried paper weaving tonight also. First time since making funny looking place mats in grade school. Using strips of decorative paper that I've trimmed off bigger pieces from recent cards. Hate to just throw the strips away and have ended up with a big pile of them. Paper weaving is really fun. It's in the last somerset. The one about Angels. Can't remember the date! Also working on small books and have been really liking it. Mostly using ribbons for closures and for binding the pages. And then my most exciting thing has been collaging the tops of small paper mache boxes and then dumping Envirotex over them, being careful not to let overflow over the lid. Turns out really cool looking. What are you working on? Kari - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Jan 1998 07:21:45 -0500 From: "John M. Way to go Kari, that's what I'd like to see - more discussions of techniques, tips, problems, projects etc. What am I working on? Trying to get this multiple embossing technique to look like something - most of mine seem to look like a soggy mess! Further, I can't get the stuff to stick to the embossing ink - it flies everywhere - I preheat my heat gun, I work inside a box lid but the darn stuff just flies everywhere - I am using the Judikins "amazing glaze" powder. Earth Academy is an educational environmental program for children and adults, sponsored by Laidlaw Environmental Services, Inc. Earth Academy has trained volunteers that go out into the community and put on seminars on recycling, reuse and protection of the environment. The Deer Park plant has several elementary schools in our area working on recycling projects. They are currently looking for old greeting cards to distribute to these schools for the children to cut up and reuse in making their own greeting cards. They would like a wide range of greeting cards, including our Chanukah, High Holiday, and Passover cards. (Yes, we will take all your old Birthday, Get Well, Anniversary, and other all occassion cards, too.) I have placed a decorated box in the front hallway of the shul for any cards you might like to pass on to the kids to reuse. I just emptied the box so there is plenty of room now for more! Anna, I have had the same problem with the Judi*kins Amazing Glaze. I even called them to see what to do. First of all, the woman I spoke with was very surprised to hear that I was having that problem. She suggested heating from underneath. I haven't tried that yet. Let me know how you make out. I seem to be getting the same messages about 4 or 5 times! How about a new thread? What are you working on right now? Kari _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? What about holding your heat gun further away from the ink until it heats just enough for whatever you've added to stick and then bring it in closer. I've tried that and it seems to work but. I wasn't using amazing glaze though, I was using Suze's embossing enamel. Don't know how much of a difference there is in the two but people say it's the same stuff. I used the Liquid Glass that I bought from Jutta though and it worked out nicely. I did mine on a piece of cardboard. First I padded it on my clear embossing ink and sprinkled on copper EP...heated. Then I inked again and sprinkled on Liquid Glass with some sprinkles of gold and copper glitter...heated. Put on more ep ink and sprinkled on Liquid Glass. I had a stamp inked with black pigment ink ahead of time. I stamped in the hot EP and let cool. Then I removed the stamp. I dipped the edges of the cardboard in clear EP ink and then copper ep and heated briefly. Thought this was a neat effect. Here's something I've been playing with, maybe some of you are doing this but it was a new discovery for me! I've combined the stamped embossing with glitter using stamp n' stick. Here's what I do: Build up your layers of embossing powders and then stamp your image using clear embossing ink. When the image has cooled sprinkle with stamp n' stick. Using your heat tool, very quickly, melt stamp n' stick. DO NOT OVERHEAT! This will go very quick and you will see the powder disappear, again it is very quick. Add glitter and then just pass the heat tool over again to set. The trick is to NOT keep your heat tool in one area as to melt the image you have stamped and to NOT overheat the stamp n' stick so the glitter won't stay. I've gotten some great results! Enjoy! geevee if moose had wings, they'd be angels! - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jan 1998 12:08:16 EST From: Rose L8046 Subject: Re: RubberTown: New Thread: What are you working on lately? There must be a few of us trying to do some of the glazing LOL...I am trying this too, and now am going to be looking to buy the amazing glaze powder that will do this better than the plain old clear powder I experimented with. I had troubles with it blowing all over too, but I thought it was because I was using too fine of a powder. I wasted half a bottle of powder....and besides it blowing all over, I spilled a bunch of it on the floor....made me so mad at myself. I love this technique...it makes the most beutiful charms!
