I don't know about it getting wet, but you can use double-sided sticky tape to hold it together, like the carpet tape I use for mounting stamps (not having gotten the sticky-back-foam yet). I just purchased a flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth with intent of stitching it into re-useable mailing envelopes. I'd seal it shut with wide clear vinyl tape. Happy Stampin New Year 1998 !! Still room for lots more players! Come and join us! This is my favorite monthly swap cuz it is so easy! Plus you get to see and collect a lot of the images that are out there........great for newbies especially! I just wanted to update everyone on the new image swap themes and procedures for 1998. As you all know, Jan 98 will be Ruthann's last swap which is Stampa Barbara. I will be listing my themes shortly. First, I'd like to share with you the new procedures: **Send ten (10)** cards 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch cards (half sheet of cardstock). Don't fold! Include an ADDRESS LABEL (SAML) for me to use to return the cards. **Send $1.00 for mailing the cards back** DON'T COLOR. Use WHITE - can be glossy or matte. Stamp in black ink that won't smear if colored with markers, or you can emboss. If you want to do different images on the cards instead of all the same, that is fine. Please include stamp credits. Put your name and e-mail addy on the back of each card. All cards must be postmarked by the last day of each month. Stamp things that will be EASY to cut out. Remember you will have to cut out what you get back to use to make your own cards. My address is: Eva J. The only exception is if you do a large stamp that can only fit a couple of times on the card, then the card can be cut in half and used like a mat. For example, a floral image from PSX is usually large, so just stamp the image twice on one card and the card could easily be cut in half. New Procedures: Send TEN cards instead of the previous six. Send ONE DOLLAR instead of .78cents. I will use the money to buy envelopes and for the extra postage to mail back to you. Can't wait to see all your great images!! Let's play! Okay here's another strange place. I was buying some staples in Staples today and meandered past the Crayola section, when I found some packages of stamps hanging up. What do you know trhey were by Noteworthy. Picked up a coule sall ones - a hand stamped by with a sunflower and veggies and a floral heart wreath about an inch across. About 2.49 apiece. Then I was in CBS a day or two ago and I found a package hanging up in the toys section. Had about a dozen animal stamps in it, six different with a duplicate of each. Seem pretty clear stamping. The only problem was that in the package were six so called stamp pads. We yes, I gues they could be with some ink on them, so if you see them, don't buy them unless you loads of reinkers at home. Unless you like the stamps by themselves. They are intended, i gather, as party favors. What fun!!! From Erna Jensen: She used gray cardstock on which she mounted a HUGE 100 bill and some stamped coins (indian head, dime, and lady coins) Then, with foam tape, she added an old gentleman in a tux (with red cumberbun, and red shoes) and an old lady in a full length fur coat smoking one of those long cigarette thingies. COOL card!! From Patty Sulcs: On blue Royal Fiber cardstock, she used a "foreign money" background paper. On top is stamped a "lady" clad in leather, with BIG hair and heart shaped glasses. She putting on her lipstick and has definitely been shopping! LOL!! From unknown: A really cool envelope made from crinkled paper printed with $100 bills all over it. I only wish it was real money, I could use it.... to buy more paper, of course!! From Janice Rollins (?): on gray cardstock, she used a plaid background paper with fancy cut corners. She stamped an envelope and tucked two tiny $20 inside. There's a great rafia bow at the top which matches the colors of the background paper. The $20 bills are loose in the envy, so you can slide them out! Very Nice!! Lastly, my favorite, From Maxine Johnson: A tiny shaker card!! It's a mason jar, and she's cut out the middle of it. There's a bunch of pennies stamped inside, some loose so they move around. The label on the jar says "stamp money". LOL, Maxine, if it's stamp money, shouldn't it be $20 bills!!! Thank you so much for your thoughtfullness, the flowers will look wonderful in our new home! I imagine it will be awhile before the flowers are in full bloom again there. It has been a long time since I went through a Midwest winter. You mentioned that the weather has been nice where you are at, hmmm, I will have to check the weather channel to see where the nice weather has been!! LOL! Thanks again! It really made my day! I picked up a cheap set with African animals and a yucky pad for $1.49 at the grocery store last week. *Next* time I'll know to put on rubber/plastic gloves before trying to pull the pad out of the pad box. The ink not be much for stamping, but it took two days to get it all off my hands. The ink pad was replaced with a trimmed-down paint-trim pad from the hardware store, held in place with double-sticky tape. The cleaning pad and elephant stamp with holder made a nice wee gifty for a friend to whom I'd previously given a big pink inkpad and other elephant stamps. re: office supply stores I'd been trying to find *yellow* Sanford Sharpie markers for a relative for a couple of weeks and was able to order them from OfficeMax, after being told various places that they weren't being made any more. They're my aunt's favorite for shrink plastic and for on aluminum. The desk catalog also had brown and orange and purple, which I hadn't seen for decades, except in 6-packs, and hadn't seen at all for a few years. Ok, here are my favorite tips!!! Put wonder tape along the outside of your shaker cards to hide the foam board! And then put glitter or EP on it!! Really finishes a shaker card up great! Stamp your punches upside down so you can see where they are going to stamp. Especially the corner ones! Wax paper also works great on hard to punch punches! If you have embossing powder stuck places you don't want it on your card, and you haven't heated it yet, turn your card over and give it a "flick". Not to hard or you'll flick off all your powder. This may take a little practice for some. If you have textured walls in your house, put a piece of paper over it and use a crayon to do a rubbing! Never can tell what you will get. LOL Save all those strips of paper that you trim off for paper weaving! Use a strip of Wonder Tape to trim a card on one side. Put confetti randomly on the tape. Pour EP or glitter. Then remove the confetti carefully and put another color of EP or glitter where the confetti was. Use those little sample spoons from Baskin & Robbins for EP, glitter. They work wonderful! This is actually Rannie's absolutely wonderful idea!!! Isn't she great?! Don't forget garage sales! Find all kinds of interesting things you can add to your art! Ok, that's all I can think of right now! All you would need to = do is send them to me in a padded post pack with a little note which = told me what stamps you like i.e. floral, cute etc and a stamped self = address padded bag and you will get a package of stamps back. I will try to match like with like so if you send me a PSX size D stamp = I will try to send you a PSX size D stamp back etc. Please let me know if you are interested in playing and if I get enough = people interested then I will set a date for your parcel to be sent. = :-) Happy Stamping! I heard that Rubber Stampede is NOT an "angel" company. Is there a list on the net somewhere I can reference to sort out the angels so that I know I have enough stamps to play in a swap? Next newbie question: What's the "Angelrs" address in this posting for? Is there a list of people who just use "angel" companies? Lastly, who on the list carries stamps from these places? I plan on using angel company stamps in my artwork and mini-books and I really don't want to waste my time and money buying stamps that are not useable to me in this way (like, for example, Rubber Stampede's).
