Then inside is a strip of brown corrigated paper with a 3D bear. Then a bunch of balloons - I LOVE TEDDIES. Thanks so much Marilyn. Next was a special card from Leilani Schooling (no em given, shucks) . She used a neat shelf stamp with dolls and books and a bunny and a lovely verse inside. She also enclosed a magnet of an old fashion little girl with flowers. It was laminated and is on my fridge as we speak. She also sent along a Rubber Stamp Friendship Book initiated by Suzanne Colter. SOooooo must get busy and sent to along to another stamper so the book gets filled. At only 1.95 I saw them as stamping and reversing ideas. They are very sturdy and though I haven't used them for backgrounds, I have used them for reversing. You flatten them out, ink the stamp well, stamp it on the balloon and stamp the balloon on your card, whatever. I use wet paper towel to clear it off. If you've sent me an email requesting to join but haven't received a reply from me then it means that I did not see it - so please post again. Here is my swap details again in case your delete button was working overtime. _________________________________ I'm an embossing powder addict and I've decided to hold an Embossing Powder Swap. I think this would be a great way to receive lots of small samples of exotic and exciting embossing powders that you might never get a chance to find or purchase. The small samples you will get back will be 1 teaspoon worth of 5 or 10 different colours which should be enough for you to trial on a dozen images or more. This is a VERY simple swap to be in if you are a newbie stamper or if you feel you don't have much time to participate in swaps. Here are the details: Name of Swap: Embossing Powder Swap Number of items: 10 for 10 or 5 for 5 Due Date of Swap: In my hands by Friday 13th February, 1998 What to Send: 5 or 10 small sealed plastic bags of an embossing powder of your choice. Plastic sealed bags can be bought at newsagents or stationers (or you can beg at your local bank). Please use a "measuring spoon" to measure 1 level teaspoon worth of the same powder into each small bag. Please do not send standard embossing powder colours like Plain Black, Gold, or White that most people have seen. Let's make this swap exciting by finding the most unusual or interesting powders that are on the market today. You are more than welcome to mix your own embossing powders to create your own masterpiece and don't forget to give it a name :) What Else to Include Please write down the name of the powder you have sent in and what shop you purchased it from (or how you mixed it). Also the price you paid and the size of the jar/packet. Also write down some information about yourself and how long you've been stamping. Postage Costs Please include a self-addressed envelope and stamped to the value of what you had sent. If you are overseas then please email me and tell me what country you are from and I'll give you details on what to send to cover your return postage costs. I'm sure we are all going to see some beautiful embossing powders and I hope to see DOZENS of participants in this swap. Please register your interest by Saturday 24 January, 1998 and I'll email you my snail mail details. Please make sure to mention what country you are from so I can give you the return postage details. The second was a valentine with cupid on a cloud, with other clouds and glitter decorating the front, also bordered on one side by silver square confetti. Two unmounted stamps were on the inside. My first UM's I've ever seen. Thank you! One of them says "Send Money". It will go on the next mail that is sent to my daughter in Texas. After paying for her college education, and wedding 3 weeks after graduation, I think it would be appropriate!!! The other one says I love my bad attitude, it will be used for things I would send to my other daughter, need I say more? :} :} :} :} I do love them both! The third card is another sweet valentine, with hugs, kisses, and kitty in a bag, all over the layered on front, and envelope. This card was full of cute confetti, of all cool shapes, little stamped postal things for more envelopes, RAK stamps, and another three images to use for pins or cards. Thank you all for your thoughtfulness, you made this "Newbie's" day!!!!! Plus gave me more ideas to try. Getting these RAK cards, and some of the samples that have been sent to me, have been the very best inspiration!!! Bless you! I have a BUNCH of printed background papers from Hot of the Press. These are acid-free... the kind you use in memory albums. I like to cut them slightly smaller than 1/4 sheet and use them for backgrounds on cards. It also looks real neat if you cut a triangle shape and use it as 1/2 background... very dramatic. Anyways... I put these in "themed" packages. You get 10 sheets (8½x11) which will make backgrounds for 40 cards!!! All packages will have 2 sheets of 5 patterns for only $2.95 + shipping (see below) that's about 7 cents per card!!!. CHOOSE: PARTY TIME (candles, ice cream/candy, party hats, confetti, colorful stripes) NEW BABY (teddy bears, baby blocks, nursery items, pastel dots, boy/girl) CHILD'S PLAY (duckies, crayons, hand prints, small kids, I can draw) HOLIDAYS (Easter, Valentine, Halloween, Father's Day, X-mas) CHRISTMAS (red stripes, gingerbread men, green dots, red plaid, red/green dots) ALL OCCASION (dog biscuits, band aids, tartan, colorful cats, pink moire) GRAB BAG: 12 sheets for the price of 10 - $2.95.... my choice, but you still get two sheets (6 patterns) BONUS: for every 3 packages you purchase, receive 5 sheets of wallpaper (cut to 8½x11) shipping: 1 package/$1.50...... 2 to 9 packages/$3.00 Please e-mail me to reserve yours. I've decided not to buy them anymore because I seem to have better luck with a fullsize pad than these little ones. I never get a good inking with them! I live in Colorado where it's extremely dry and my stamping area is in the basement of our house where it's about 60 degrees all the time. Because the humidity is so low I'm worried that all my stamp pads are going to dry out much faster than normal. Do you think I should store them someplace else in my house (we have a humidifier upstairs)? I hate to have to buy a bunch of reinkers and reink constantly, but maybe this is what I'm going to have to do. Those of you in the know about stamp pads, what do you think? Please post to the list so others with this problem can see your opinions. Thanks! I have received in 2 sets so far - and I am tickled pink over these. Ladies, you are both very talented! I am afraid mine won't be nearly as creative. LOL. I will be describing them online again, like I did last time. But for sign ups are still open right up til the end, as long as you can get me those cards BEFORE Jan 31. :-) If you are going to be late, email me soonest so I can plan. Thanks, here are the details again: Theme: Naughty Swap POSTMARK BY: January 31, 1998 so that everyone will get their cards back by Valentines Day. MAKE: 5 for 5 cards (don't include a hostess card, since I will be playing) or one for everyone who is playing. I will be letting you all know from time to time how many sign up, but again, I won't publish names unless you give me the ok. :-) The following items are ok too: postcards, little books, pins, etc. POSTAGE: Send a large self addressed envelope with enough postage on it as it took for you to send yours to me. This makes things way easier, since I can then sort by envelopes. :-) And I don't have to go running to the post office, etc. My address is at the bottom of this message. Please let me know if you are playing in this swap - because I will post the number of participants for those who want one of each. I will also do a review of the cards on line for everyone, like last time. :-) Oh, could someone please also post this message out to other lists and boards that might be interested? I am on the Rubbertown and SARA list only, but want to open this up to anyone who might like to play. Thanks guys! ######################## Lori Blaauw 218 Gladys Ave. #A Mtn View CA 94043 - - ------------------------------ End of rubbertown-digest V1 #133 ********************************
