If you sent in whole packages, you will probably get 2 or 3 smaller ones for your full package. And then others of you will receive a big package of one kind for 2 or 3 of your smaller ones. Kari EPBandit - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Feb 1998 23:46:11 -0500 From: Appalachian Art Stamps/Imagick Subject: RubberTown: Something cool with Black Polyshrink I made a really neat pin tonight with the black Polyshrink, embossing enamel, copper glitter and a cancelled postage stamp. I had bought a grab bag of cancelled world stamps on our way home last night, in a Books a Million. One of the stamps is this cool feather rattle, very much like an illustration in a Griffin & Sabine book. So, what I did was cut the plastic with Victorian edged scissors. Shrunk it down to about a 2" square. Then I made a little pile of embossing enamel in the he center, melted it and pressed my postage stamp into it. I used a toothpick, as a tool to hold the stamp in place. Then I applied another enamel layer, sprinkled a tiny bit of copper glitter over it. The stamp needed to be held in place or a couple of more layers, but that was easy , using the toothpick. After 4 layers, I let it cool slightly, to thicken the enamel and then I pushed the stamp down a bit more into it. I let this cool slightly and then added another 2 layers of enamel. Adding so many layers of enamel has really added alot of dimension the the plastic. The black is very dramatic on it's own and I think the copper just heightens the drama. I'll scan this in, and post it on StampCity tomorrow, along with alot of information about working with Polyshrink. So i've pretty much decided that i really don't need a full size laminator and instead will give the little one a try. So i purchased that one (only to find out it's also a Royal. :P) and we'll see how it goes. I figure if it doesn't work, hey! i have a receipt and it'll go right back! :P~ Just to let you all know, i wasn't using a carrier for the large one as it said it didnt' need one. i tried sending a piece of regular paper through w/o anything in it folded in half, but it seemed to barely make it. i don't know. it just seems that the one i had didnt' even like the cardstock thickness. the little one specifies 1/16 " thickness max (i have a hole punch that size and it's pretty thick...:Z) So i'll let you all know how it goes... thank you!!! keep your fingers crossed for me! :) tracy - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Feb 1998 00:16:31 EST From: EJKoy@aol.com Subject: Re: RubberTown: Info needed to submit cards The only current magazine I have is Rubber Stamper. So here are the guidelines: This will be for exotic papers only! No mulberry cause it's very easy to come by and common. No printed cardstock/paper like the type you would use for scrapbooking. Size to send in: about 1/4 sheet of paper size. 1/4 of 8.5 x 11 - I'll let you do the math! LOL Send in as many as you want and I sure would appreciate an extra piece for me?? :-) Oh, please let me know how many you are sending in. I don't want you to send in way too many if there aren't enough players. Here are some examples of what to send, not restricted to these of course cause I certainly don't know all the different papers out there! LOL Papyrus, french marble, metallic marble, mango, other fibers (except mulberry), banana, abaca, embossed, bark, Marbled Momi, unryu, snake textured, other unusual textures, petal paper, etc, etc, etc. I think you get the idea. Lots of do's and don'ts, huh? Well, Sorry about all that, but I agree with others who have emailed me and I'm sure if these guidelines are followed, everyone will just love their return packages!!! Now, how about suggestions on what to do for postage for this swap? How about $.78 for every 5 little sheets sent in? I don't have a clue. Oh, duedate??? How about March 1st? Is that enough time to stuff envy's with exotic papers? I can extend it if need be, but I don't imagine this would take anyone very long. Let me know if you are interested!!! Tricia stamped a patchwork heart and embossed in silver and coloured in the background with markers, this technique always looks very good. But wait, there's more folks, as if the card was not enough. She sent me a wonderful array of back ground papers and I just love paper. Wow thank you so much, I guess I should get busy and put some of this paper to good use. Thank you once again. I have no idea if I have some or not. And can "exotic paper" be paste paper? What's French marbling as compared to that marbling I've gotten locally? Do you mark on the paper what it is? This card is very effective Nikki. Nikki has used black card, and stamped "New Year Greetings", embossed in red. On the left of the card is a fancy arrangement of gold mulberry paper (well I think it is) with a stamped Aztec coin attached. Inside Nikki has stamped the following saying - "As you travel down life's highway Stop and smell the rubber" gee I love that. Where do you get all your wonderful stamps, I especially like the ones you used on the envi. Megan aka moovis ps. I will exchange cards. - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Feb 1998 08:16:00 -0800 From: Ruthann Gigliotti Subject: RubberTown: Re: COMM Embossing Arts order by tonight I'll be ordering Embossing Arts tomorrow morning. I would really love to give this a try, but right now I am kind of pre occupied running back and forth to my mothers house. My mom was diagnosed with lung, lymph, and bone cancer last month which was found due to a broken hip. With all the running that goes with taking her for treatments and helping her out at home I just can't commit to a swap. When things are running smoother I would love to join to see all the wonderful things that you all make... but for now I am just going to have to sit back and lurk and hopefully learn from hearing about what you recieved in your swaps! Thank you again for all your encouragement !
