Good thing, too, cause *both* my kids are home sick with the flu! First off, I was RAKed by a very sweet lady, and my adopted RS daughter, Rubberheart! She sent a gorgeous card, dry embossed with roses along the edge which had been colored with chalks and just a touch of glitz. In the center was a gold embossed birdhouse with roses colored in with pen which had a little feather tucked into it. TOO fine! She also sent me another card, a Valentine done on black velvety paper with a corrugated red shiny heart cut-out behind the PSX "LOVE" stamp. VERY pretty! Also, she sent me a piece of Nagashizuki handmade paper in a lovely rose color along with a pack of "Class A' Peels"! This was enough to brighten ANYone's day! Then I found "the key" lurking in my mailbox! It brought me my RSM :) (postal ladies being kind enough not to squash it in my box) AND a whole BOX of POSH stamps that I recently traded Kari for! Just can't WAIT to play with these... But that wasn't all! I got my order from Ragged Edge Press! VERY cool rubber, nice and deeply etched and some images that I'd been waiting for for awhile! The little crawfishie sitting at a shell laptop that Joel was kind enough to let me use on my website, a snail that has "SNAIL MAIL" on the upward slanting part of his body...as if he'd stamp it as he pokes along. AND a cancellation stamp I LOVE that says "Waterproof, Louisiana" (of course BEING from there makes it abit more special :) Last but not least, a snail woman...tooo cool! The Sticker Dude stuffed my envie wih cool stickers and stuff to boot! And in my best "Cat in the Hat" rendition..."But that is not all! Ooooh NO! That is not all!" I FINALLY got my "COLLAGE" catalog! Stuff in here to DIE for!! Beautiful papers, though abit pricey....sealing wax and seals, calligrapher's inks...LOTS of handmade books...pens...papercraft books and stationery sets...ONE which costs $290.00 for a set of 50 sheets and envies! LOL!! Ooooooh...Santa...;) Still...lots and lots of neat ideas just looking THROUGH it! I ALSO got a neat "Chinese New Year" card from a non computer mailart pal. NEAT card! A big Chinese "mandala" in the corner stamped in red on yellow paper, layered over turquoise blue which has splashes of gold...then a beautiful sitting tiger colored in golds and oranges layered against one of the "Year of the tiger" postage stamps that's in turquoise, yellow, orange and white. VERY striking!! It also has a Polyshrink tiger charm on a black cord with glass beads that is tucked into the spine. Got a catalog from Stamp Magic, too! FULL of Cat designs! If any of you are cat fanciers...this one's a MUST have! Oh, goodness, WAIT!! There's something else....I got my swap cards from the Non Sequitur swap! Well....maybe I better put *that* in another post! All in all, this certainly makes up for the days when my mailbox is empty! And it certainly helped me be ABIT sweeter to my kids!! :) Thanks one and all! I was very please to receive my One Stamp cards in the mail today. I am impressed with the designs created for this swap! Thanks Lisa for hosting this, and for the hard work it took to get all of these cards swapped!!! Anne Stone (AS10@swt.edu) created a beautiful effect by layering the stamp she embossed on white, over black cardstock, then mounted this on a flecked offwhite cardstock, and adding just a hint of color. Very dramatic and artistic Anne!! Linda Farrell (farrell@vrh.org) created a colorful card by coloring the stamp she used, and adding glitter to the wings of a small angel hiding in a plant. She also cut away and mounted the flowers growing out of the pot. Good job Linda!! Karen Mellinger (NewLife4JC@aol.com) used a "Happy Birthday" stamp stamped on white glossy cardstock using a rainbow pad, and framed the saying with a lovely sponging technique. A crisp colorful design Karen!! Rubberpaws (KarenSig@aol.com) cleverly used a teddy bear stamp (very cute!) She colored and cutout the stamp, and mounted this over a heart doily that was mounted over a lovely background paper. She also further embellished the care with a bow and heart charm (centered on the top of the doily heart) and shiny sticker dots. I love this card!! You did a super job Karen!! Kim Albert (kima@sihope.com) stamped, colored, and cut out the stamp she used and then mounted this over a dotted and fancy cut background paper. She embellished the card with a bit of ribbon and a ribbon rose. Very cute card Kim.!! Hugs to all and Happy Stamping! In typical fashion I'd allowed ideas to ferment until what I thought was near the deadline and then *whoosh*. What I've learned: Get the materials *really ready* first. I felt quite foolish huffing on my pigment ink as I tried to open my brand-new container of UF EP ... blasted thing had a piece of cardboard under the new-fangled shaker lid. Grrrr! The UF EP didn't seem to cover as smoothly as my regular EP. Is this because detail EP shouldn't be used on larger smooth areas? I'd had areas that showed a halo effect because it was difficult to guess just how far to cut away the mask. After embossing the second area I went back with my fine embossing pen and touched up the places that had been missed and threw on some more EP. After heating one last time, I can't tell which is from stamp #1, from stammp #2, and which is my touch-up. I learned that I can run my background paper through our printer to print the "documentation" on what will become the back of the card. Option + "g" gives me the copyright symbol. I had to experiment to figure out how far down to position the printing, but I did that on plain paper (5.5" x 8.5") first. Also, it is in a reusable clear envy..:-) There are 2 cards that she has made little envy's and glued to the front. These are so cute. I have never thought to do something like that before.. They are also in a reusable clear envy..:-) 16 white heart with holes punched in the top. Nametags??? These are really cute. Do you have any other uses for them besides nametags?? Thank you and I can use that plastic baggie again..:-) 3 really cute mini stamps. One is a swirl from Hero, a leaf from Stampin Up, and a tattered heart from Dots. These are so cute. This is the first Dots that I have seen.. Thanks so much.. A film container full of heart confetti.. I don't have any of these, they are a really pretty color.. Thank you.. An assortment of really cute half cut cards for layering. 2 halves of vellum and 2 sheets of really cute heart stickers. Thank you. Guess I am ready for valentines day now..:-) Also, a gold heart shaped container... A huge pack of really pretty assorted card stock. The full sizes.. You can't ever get enough cardstock can you..:-) I can really use it. Thank you so much.. A box of Brocks chocolate covered Almonds. Mmmmmm I love these. I had to hide them from dh and Jordan..lol... Also some more of those great Mocha suckers that she sent last time. I love these, and they are good dunked in coffee..:-) Thne she said something about me getting Microlopes. I couldn't find them in the package so figured either she forgot to put them in, or they were coming later... Well... guess what.. today I got a package and in it was 2 different packs of microlopes in all kinds of different shapes. They are from ChiliPeppers in S.C. These are great. They come with a ring and have holes punched in the top of all of them so you can put them on the ring. This is really neat. Then you can hang it on a nail on th ewall by the stamp table.. Ohhhh they are in the large clear envy's too that I can reuse..:-) Okay, now that you see how great my tribe has been to me, I will let you all know who she is.. It is funny too, cause I bought my Rollertag from her. I love that thing. Yes, I love it and am glad that I got it from you.. Now, my Tribe is Andrea Lum, and NO... I never did figure out who you are..lol.. I tried to find out, but you kept using a different addy, so couldn't guess...:-) You are the first person that I have not been able to guess....lol... So, you did good girl, and thank you for being so good to me these past 2 months.. Well, I need to go, we have tornado watches out and I need to get off the computer, and get a shower before it gets too bad.. Have to go to a school meeting tonight.. The local stampers' group numbers two (2) and when we met last week the *other* member complained about not being to get a clear impression with the huge birdhouse stamp I'd loaned her. I replied "Have you just been leaning on it? I had to step on it to get a good impression. *You* should be able to get an even better impression than I did." Yeah, shame on me. It was a cheap shot. I weigh close to 200 and she weighs more. I got a phone call from her later, she'd tried it again when she got home and she *did* get a better impression than I'd been able to. Sara Humphery-Knight Stamped Expressions Stamped.Expressions@airmail.net StamPerson@aol.com Where did it come from? WOW! The HIA (Hobby Industry Association) show was in Dallas this week . . . and it was an incredible experience! There were nearly a thousand companies--from rubber stamp companies, general arts and crafts, floral and needlework crafts, oh my, I can't even begin to tell you! The very best part is having established some wonderful contacts with companies . . . which will give me more inventory!!!!! And the next best part (which is pretty much tied with #1) is that I was able to buy paper on the spot from a number of vendors! So I have an entirely new selection of paper in stock! The people who sell to Fascinating Folds (a company that's been mentioned here recently) sold me the entire contents of their booth! I'm in paper heaven!!! And the new vendors out there are wonderful! I found a new contact for vellum and a source for all the oriental papers. I got to meet some neat people: Susan Pickering Rothamel, Arthur Grummer, Grace Taormina, Judy from Judikins, Dee Gruenig from Posh, just to mention a few! Can you tell I'm really psyched about this????? It was a GREAT SHOW! Now, if you could help me PAY for all that paper by ordering some of it, I'd be very grateful! :) S - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Feb 1998 22:50:42 EST From: KraZStampR@aol.com Subject: Fwd: RubberTown: [Fwd: Thanks: Complete List Info] This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - --part0_887169044_boundary Content-ID: <0_887169044@inet_out.mail.aol.com.1> Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Here is a copy of the rules for Rubbertown List 1. John jmabunga@xmission.com RubberTown Mailing List FAQ 1. What is the RubberTown Mailing List? 2. Is the RubberTown Mailing List in competition with the Rubberstampers Mailing List? 3. How do I subscribe & unsubscribe? 4. How do I post to the list? 5. Is there a digest version available? 6. How do I subscribe and unsubscribe to the digest version? 7. Are there archives available? 1. What is the RubberTown Mailing List? The purpose of the mailing list is to provide a forum for people around the world to discuss rubber stamping. It is a forum for swaps, techniques, mail art and anything related to rubber stamping. Vendors can also feel free to sell on the list but please clearly state in the subject line that it is a COMMercial post. This list will be strictly for rubber stamping. No tangent or non-stamping subjects will be allowed. 2. Is the RubberTown Mailing List in competition with the Rubberstampers Mailing List? I created the list due to an overwhelming amount of requests from stampers unhappy with the Rubberstampers Mailing List's volume and it was not meant to be competition. It is simply an alternative for those unable to deal with the mass amounts of off subject mail that the other list has. I am a member of the other list (although a bit of a lurker) and will continue to be a member because of the great amount of stamping information I have gotten from it. I am sure there will be others as well who will subscribe to both lists. I also run the digest version and the archive of the Rubberstampers Mailing List so I would like both to succeed. 3. How do I subscribe & unsubscribe? To subscribe send an e-mail to: majordomo@xmission.com Leave the subject line blank and put in the body: subscribe rubbertown (your e-mail address) So for me it would look like: subscribe rubbertown jmabunga@xmission.com You will then be e-mailed a confirmation number which you must then send back (full instructions are included in the e-mail). This assures spammers do not get on the list. To unsubscribe send an e-mail to: majordomo@xmission.com Leave the subject line blank and put in the body: unsubscribe rubbertown (your e-mail address) So for me it would look like: unsubscribe rubbertown jmabunga@xmission.com 4. How do I post to the list? To post to the list send your message to: RubberTown@xmission.com Remember, stamping related messages ONLY. If you notice someone is breaking this rule please let me know as I won't be able to read every message. Use direct e-mail for non-stamping subjects and take the list address out of the reply field. Also when replying please edit the "included" message. 5. Is there a digest version available? Yes there is. For those who don't know, when receiving the digest version of the list, messages are collected from the list and a digest is sent out when the digest size reaches approximately 40K. Each digest is numbered and includes a table of contents so you can easily see if there is a message worth scrolling down to see. Remember when replying from a digest to edit what is included, don't include the entire 40k digest. 6. How do I subscribe and unsubscribe to the digest version? Subscribing and unsubscribing to the digest is almost the same as the regular list except you change the "rubbertown" to "rubbertown-digest" To subscribe send an e-mail to: majordomo@xmission.com Leave the subject line blank and put in the body: subscribe rubbertown-digest (your e-mail address) So for me it would look like: subscribe rubbertown-digest jmabunga@xmission.com You will then be e-mailed a confirmation number which you must then send back (full instructions are included in the e-mail).
