These cards are really lovely to look at. Thanks Kari Mattocks for = hosting this swap. It gave me some ideas on how much more to use the = Pearl Ex stuff. :) Here's what they all look like.... Debbie Popish-The background has ivory leaves all stamped,it looks like = she dipped the stamp in the Green Pearl Ex and stamp on the cs,went from = dark green to the light green. They are so nice looking and a nice sheen = to them. And on top of the leavesshe has a bunch of grapes with a purple = ribbon attached to the top of them. And a whisp of gold pearl ex over the = top of the grapes. All of this is layed on Green cs. I love this look! Melanie Holloway-An Iris embossed in gold and she painted deep purple = all over the flower part& then leaves done in green. Looks like she has = brushed gold pearl ex all over it. How in the world is this staying on = without it rubbing off Melanie? Along the side she has gold embossed it = on the opening side of the card. This is really lovely look! Dona-Has green cs,the corners of the card are done in cut out of Art = Deco scissors. She has a aztec sun embossed in gold and the is also = squiggle lines of gold glitter on opposite side of the card. She has = brushed the card all over with gold and super russet (love that color) = pearl ex. This is also a very lovely card. Love it! InkyBunny-On silver cardstock (I gotta get me some of this stuff :) ) = She has 3 hot air ballons going up in the air. The ballons are two = toned colors in black and with gold pearl ex on them. This is a good = looking card too. Michael Oakley-On black cs has embossed six silver butterflys in silver = and has painted on the wings with blue and green and looks like teal = pearl ex on the wings of the butterflys. This is a very good look on the = black cardstock. This was an interesting swap,so many lovely cards and the ideas are so = great.=20 Thanks again Kari for hosting this swap. YAY! Today I received my first RAKs ever!! When I left the house this afternoon, I found the cutest "note in a bottle" stuck in my door handle. It was from Diana, and I love it! I had seen descriptions of these, but had never seen one in person. It is a small plastic bottle with a cork in it. The cork is covered with green foil which is wrapped in clear tape. Inside there is a rolled up sheet of parchment paper, tied in a green satin ribbon, along with some heart confetti and silver star tinsel. At the bottom of the parchment paper, Diana stamped a pretty flower border, embossed it with silver EP and colored it in with colored pencils (I think). On the parchment paper it says: Guilt should not be the motivator of good acts. Treat others as you would like to be treated and your good acts will flow naturally. I hereby declare today RAK day! Have a wonderful day! Diana I walked around smiling all afternoon! Diana--you made my day!! Thank you SO much! Later I checked my email, and I had been RAKed again! This time it was an electronic Valentine card that was SO cute! Unfortunately, although I thought I had saved it, I can't find the card again and I don't remember the name of the sender. Whoever you are, I hope you're reading this. Thank you!! That was so sweet!! If it's not too much trouble, please write and identify yourself so that I can thank you properly. Hi Lynette and all, I took a class on this and we made trivits out of gardening tiles that you find at a nursery or landscape store. They are heat set so you can use them as hot pads. You can use this technique on clay pots for planting and for dishes. They are dishwasher safe and can be used in the microwave as long as you don't use the metallics. 1. First clean off your item. For clay pots just wipe them off. For glazed surfaces, wipe thoroughly with alcohol. Make sure your item is dry before starting. 2. We used Pebeo's Porcelain 150 as ink. Transfer some paint into a dabber bottle (like Bingo dabbers). Ink your stamp with the dabber and stamp. It will come off again if you make a mistake as long as it hasn't been baked although it's harder to get off porous items. Let the image dry for about 15 min. before you color the inside. 3. Using Qtips or a paint brush, color the inside of your image. 4. After letting the item set for 24 hours. Put item in cold oven and set for 300-325 degrees. When the temperature is reached, bake for 35 minutes. Turn off oven and cool in the oven. Baking too long or at increased temperature will brown the colors. Microwave ovens can't be used for baking. This info. is from Num Nums guide to stamping with porcelain.
