The only thing I can think of is to use an overlay of transparency film, rough side up and pencil or watercolor on the film. If you want glossy, put *another* piece of transparency film over the colored sheet, glossy side up. Use photocorners or slits in the paper to hold the transparency sheets in place. Collecting Beanie Babies is no more sick than collecting stamps, of which I am gulity of both. It is much too late to feel guilty about the way Princess Diana's image and name was expolited during her life and sad as it may seem she is just as sought over, maybe even more so, now in death. The Princess Bear retails for $5-6, just as all other Beanie Babies. Where the price goes up is in the hands of the collector's and those seeking them on the secondary market. As promised, Ty donates a percentage of the profits that it (Ty) makes on initial orders (from it's retailers) it takes for the Princess Bear to Princess Di's charities, so Diana's funds are never being ripped off. All of the retailer's I have dealt with have sold the Princess Bear to me for the retail price of $5-6 not a penny more! They can't if they are one of Ty's many retailers, it is against their contract . If they (retailers) are call Ty and turn them in! Enter the Cabbage Patch/Tickle Me Elmo syndrome! If a stranger off the street walked up and offered you $400 for a toy you paid $6 for I believe I it is safe to say that there aren't many people out there who would walk away with their toy still under their arm. Supply and demand. I want it, can't find it, you have it, I want it! A toy or collector's item is only worth what someone else is willing to pay. I have yet to collect my Beanies for profit but would be a hypocrite to frown on those who do. And keep in mind also that the Princess Bear is not the only Beanie who is worth a small fortune on the secondary market. There are those that are worth nearly $2000. So who's to blame? The collector, not likely, they love their little toys...the buyer, who cares how another spends their hard earned cash? If it is sick because it is a small fortune for a toy, don't buy it. If it is sick because it is the Princess Di Bear, get over it. Elvis hasn't been able to complain from the grave either and I hear much of his memorabilia is worth a mint. Granted, Elvis is a far cry from the nearly sanctified Diana, but is lengendary in death all the same. Please don't misunderstand me, I don't mean to put down all the heartfelt sentiment for the late Princess of Wales. I, too, cried when I heard the news and sat up all night watching the funneral. I just think it is too late to take back all the damage that was inflicted upon her in life. From a different perspective, if someone were to offer me/you $200+ for my/your favorite stamp what would you do? And just to spice the pot, what if it was a stamp with the image of Princess Di? Why is that any different? As an opening business special (which is good through February 28) I would like to offer a grab bag of 75 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for just $10.00 which includes priority shipping within the United States. Add $3.95 for delivery to Canada, Great Britain and Germany. Add $5.95 for delivery to Australia and New Zealand. (If you have questions about delivery to any other country I would be happy to let you know what the cost would be.) This is truly beautiful cardstock. The grab bag includes four different neutrals (perfect for Easter or Spring cards). Included are white embossed leather, pebblestone, oyster flecks, and cottonwood. All of these are textured or have flecks or specks of a variety of neutral colors throughout the cardstock. These are not plain ho-hum papers - they are all quite beautiful. All are 80 lb. cardstock except the pebblestone which is 65 lb. I know that you will be taking a leap of faith by placing an order with me since I am a new vendor. That is why I am offering such a special price on this paper. All I ask is that you please give me a chance to show you what a wonderful vendor I will be for you. This introductory offer is good through February 28. Remember the grab bags are just $10.00 per 75 sheet grab bag including priority shipping! To order a grab bag (or two!) for yourself or your Tribe Buddy or as a RAK e-mail barbara@kans.com or mail check or money order to: Creative Images 1112 Neosho Burlington KS 66839 I am working on being able to accept credit cards but the paperwork is not done being processed at the bank - lots of red tape! For right now I accept checks and money orders. Soon I will have a line of rubber stamps and supplies available (hopefully by March 1st). Thank you in advance to all of you who are taking that leap of faith and placing an order with me. It will be remembered and appreciated. If you have any questions you can e-mail me or feel free to give me a call at 316-364-8744. I don't know the brand. It is a round stamp with a wooden handle in the shape of a heart. The stamp's message is "Seal of Affection". In the center of the message there is a heart image. Do you get the American Science & Surplus catalog? No? Well, you should. Besides being one of the most amusing catalogs around it is a haven for odds and ends of all sorts. Many of the items might not apply to stamping but you never know... In the March issue I found glass beads (the tiny, sparkly, no hole kind) in fourteen colors, 1oz packages for $1.00/pk. There's double-sided foam tape, 1" x 40", 2 rolls to a pack for $2.00. How about some Itty Bitty Ziplock bags for stashing your itty-bitty embellishments? 2" ziplock bags will cost ya a whole $2.00 per 100. Want corks? Pill cups? Drawstring bags? Spray bottles? Plastic storage containers? You better look here first. The address is: American Science & Surplus 3605 Howard Street Skokie IL 60076 Fax number: (800) 934-0722 Ph number: (847)982-0870 The usual disclaimers apply: I do not own stock in and I am in no way connected to this company. I just happen to love them to death. :D - -giselle - - ------------------------------ End of rubbertown-digest V1 #215 ********************************
