Hello to all of you! I want to just take a moment to thank all of you who have responded to my post about wanting to get stamping started at my facility, as an activity for the more active and craft capable ladies. Being that the activity department of a nursing home has such a limited budget and relies mostly on donations, I really wasn't sure I could make this happen for them. But now, thanks to some of you who are willign to help, I believe this is going to happen for them! I have received responses from a few people who are willing to donate some cardstock, used stamps and basic supplies to help us make this happen for these wonderful elderly people. With the few supplies that are being donated, we will be able to have a few things with which our resients can learn the new activity of stamping! I know they are goign to love it! I also have received response from about 6 people who are willign to send a few cards to help brighten the days of these wonderful seniors! I have already told several of the ladies today, during our cookig activity, that we have a few people who are willing to donate bits of stamping supplies in order for us to start this new creative adventure. Even though it wont be much, the ladies are thrilled with the prospect and cannot wait to get started! I am so grateful to those of you who are willign to do this! The ladies are also looking forward to receiving the cards that some of you have offered to send! I want to say thank you to all of you who responded and are willing to help, even if its just one card. Many of these elderly people have no family or anything and it is up to us, the staff, to do whatever we can to help brighten their days and make their life a little more enjoyable. And I want all of you who are willing to help to know how much the residents appreciate your thoughtfulness for anything you send! I have saved all the emails of those who are willign to help and will be contacting you to let you know when your cards and things arrive. Again, thank you to all of you who can help in making this happen. May God Bless each and Every one of you for your kindness! Hi fellow Aussie Stampers LIke me you may have been reading all the wonderful raking that's been going on, on the lists; but can't play cause of the cost of Overseas postage! Well no longer will this happen! Yes that's right I'm organising a RAK list for us Aussie Stampers. Basically what the deal is - * You email me with your name address, birthday (year optional) - family dates/wedding anniversary, etc (basically any dates that are important to you - and you'd like to be remembered on). * I complie a list - which I hope will grow regularly and I email this list to you.(as new people come along they will get added to the list) * Then when the urge to make cards comes upon you - just make a couple extra for people on the RAK list. * The idea being it's better to give than too recieve. If you want some ideas just read what other people are sending as RAKes from the mailing lists or email me for ideas - it's not just cards, but also paper or other goodies - really up to you. And what do you get out of it - well besides having more reasons to stamp more cards (and therefore buy more stamps! LOL!!!); cause your name will be on the list someone else will probably be sending a RAK to you - more mail - now don't we love this one! I can't see the need for rules and regs with this one - though there would be an expectation that you send off atleast 1 card per month to someone on the list and that you email the mailing lists (or me if that's easier) - letting your RAKer know you've received it ok. And the name to avoid confusion....Aussie RAK Looking forward to recieving your names and address...Or feel free to ask me questions or give some ideas... I will be making another trip to Portland on Saturday, March 7th. That means I can get more PETAL PAPER for those of you who missed out last time (or if you want more!) WHAT IS IT? This is 9 pt. cardstock and matching text weight paper with REAL flower petals. The base color of the cardstock/paper is a soft white, and the dried flower petals are mostly pinks, blues, and mauves. There are 2 types... each available in cardstock weight AND text weight. Both are smooth finish (no bumps) so you can stamp, or write on them with ease. #1 - "Lots of Petals" - this one has lots of tiny petals throughout, the petals are more broken up, and denser... #2 - "Sparce Petals" - this one has fewer petals, and they are more spread out.... not such a heavy feeling..., but the petals are bigger and more colorful. HOW MUCH IS IT? "Lots of Petals" in CARDSTOCK WEIGHT - 10 sheets/$7.50 "Lots of Petals" in TEXT WEIGHT paper - 10 sheets/$3.50 "Sparce Petals" in CARDSTOCK WEIGHT - 10 sheets/$7.50 "Sparce Petals" in TEXT WEIGHT paper - 10 sheets/$3.50 BONUS - Order 1 package of each and receive 10 sheets of Royal Fiber Periwinkle, which compliments the colors in the petals so well!! **FREE!!!! :-) US Shipping: $3 for up to 100 sheets Foreign shipping: Please ask WHEN WILL I SHIP? I will be shipping these on Monday March 9th. I would like most of the monies to be here before I go pick these up (these are quite pricey, so I will only be buying what I have orders for.) Please e-mail me to reserve yours and I will send confirmation. Send check or MO to Fran Robertshaw, 2682 Beverly Dr., Medford, OR 97504. I think I would do the whole thing again- although this seems a lot of work...When I like to do some coloring, I stamp with fabrico ink, then heat it with a heat tool.Afterwards you may use watercolors too... Greetings Anne - - ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 10:38:05 EST From: ISTMP2@aol.com Subject: RubberTown: How to color glossy? In a message dated 98-02-23 00:56:36 EST, you write: << I stamped a scene on some glossy cards with dye ink, thinking the scene would look good in "black and white." Now I find I want to add color...except I don't want to use markers. I'd like a more subtle, pale look, and I need to fill in large spaces as well as small. Of course colored pencils won't work on glossy, and watercolors will smear the dye ink. Any thoughts? >> Yep! Sponge on some color!! Use your makeup wedges/nerf ball and tap it onto your dye ink pads, then blot off most of the color onto scrap paper. You will be able to get a lovely soft shading that I think is what you're looking for. Best of luck! :) Mary - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 01:43:48 -0500 From: "Lisa Mallette" Subject: RubberTown: Colored on glossy - it worked! Just wanted to say another big THANKS to everyone who helped me with my dilemma wherein I had stamped in dye ink on glossy and wanted to add some soft, subtle color. I bought a set of chalks and a tombow blender pen today and used both! The pen is wonderful - I colored on a plastic plate with my pastel LePlumes and then "scrubbed" the color around on the plastic with the blender...when I used the blender on my cards, not only did it not smear the stamped image, but the color is so beautifully pale and lovely. I had some big areas to color, too, and the chalks actually worked! They are VERY pale on glossy, but surprisingly they stick really well! I tried to "rub off" some of the color with my thumb, but it stayed just fine. I don't think I even need to use a fixative. Hooray! Thanks again, everyone. I can always count on wonderful help from the kind people here. :) Lisa Mallette euphoria@gru.net - - ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 08:21:06 -0500 From: Queen of Everything Subject: RubberTown: Official April Birthday Card Swap Well it sure looks like this is a go! *g* Isn't this wonderful, I love receiving cards. I just found out that one bag of orders (about 6 orders) never made it to the post office. I trusted someone I shouldn't have to get them there. Never again.
