This week I finally got set up to make my own stamps. I want to thank everyone who has been so wonderful about taking a leap of faith on a new vendor and ordering cardstock grabbags from me. What I would like to offer now is a grabbag of unmounteds of my 1st plate of rubberstamps for $20.00 which includes shipping in the US. Add $1.00 shipping for Canada, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland. Add $2.00 shipping for Australia and New Zealand. Let me know if I left anyone out. There are a total of eighteen images that fill a 9" x 13" sheet. There are six large ones, 4 medium, 4 small, 2 word type and 2 tiny ums. The large stamps are all large enough to fill the front of a card. These include a frog on a lily pad, a bridge with a stream running underneath, a mountain scene, 2 hummingbirds with flowers, a beach scene with seashells, and a large basket of flowers. The medium stamps include an Indian girl feeding a bird, a boy bunny shyly giving a girl bunny flowers, a feather (like a writing quill), and a sign that says Honeybees Welcome. The small stamps are a cactus, a begging dog, a chick on an egg with a feather in his hat and a butterfly. The word stamps are Handstamped By: and Good Job! The tiny stamps are a bird in flight (perfect for adding to the sky of your card) and a postoid size frog on a lily pad. I accept checks, money orders and Discover Card. I am working on being able to accept Visa and MasterCard but the paperwork is not finished being processed by the bank. I would love to make a grabbag of ums for you or for your Tribe Buddy. HALOS The reason your edges are "goopy" is that the vinyl is cut too close to the edge of the stamp/cushion. When mounting stamps on vinyl, you need to leave a good 1/4" (at LEAST) margin of vinyl all around. For some reason, the vinyl "shrinks" over time - if you've cut it up to the edge, it will shrink smaller than the cushion. Then the adhesive you used to attach the vinyl will be exposed - thus the goopiness. Try cutting your vinyl 1/4" to 1/2" larger all around than the stamp, and see if this doesn't solve the problem. Good luck! She has given me permission to post to rubbertown. Leslie "Finger Print-cess" As a regional manager for an insurance company, I can speak to this=20 issue a little. Generally on most homeowner's policies you have at=20 least 50% of the amount that you insure your house for to use for=20 contents. For example, if you have insured your house to $200,000=20 you would have an additional $100,000 that could be used for contents=20 if you were to have a total loss (fire, tornado, etc). This is the=20 general situation on an actual cash value policy. However, many=20 policies today are insured to replacement cost (does NOT necessarily=20 mean you would get what it cost to replace your house--but that's a=20 different topic for a different time). Replacement cost policies=20 typically allow more coverage on contents than an ACV policy would=20 (you pay more too). But many times, you may have 70% on your=20 contents instead of the 50%. You should all check your policies to=20 see what you have. NOW, let's say you do have a total fire. The=20 company will come in, adjust the loss, determine if your house was=20 worth what you had it insured for. THEN they will ask for you to=20 give them a list of all your contents. From that list they will=20 determine the value of what you had. You will be paid UP TO either=20 the 50% or the 70% or whatever your policy limits are. =20 I know that sounds like a lot of money available for contents, but=20 really it often isn't. Just look around your homes and think what it=20 would cost you to replace everything you have---your dishes, your=20 pots and pans, your clothes, your books, your music, etc etc. NOW,=20 think how much money you have tied up in rubberstamps. Especially=20 those of you whose collections number in the thousands. This is=20 probably not a subject you really want to discuss with your husband=20 , but somewhere you need to have a list of exactly what stamps you=20 own. Insurance companies do not like insureds who say "Oh, I had=20 about 4000 stamps and they were each worth $10.00 so you owe me $40, 000 in insurance money." They will want a list of each stamp. This=20 is one of the most important things you can do--make a list and keep=20 it somewhere. Maybe not someplace readily available to your DH, but=20 someplace where you can retrieve it in case of emergency. Also,=20 think seriously of how that total stamp dollar figure relates to the=20 total insurance you have on contents on your house. If, indeed, you=20 are one of the people with a $40,000 collection, you really badly=20 need to talk with your insurance representative and get his/her=20 suggestions for adequate coverage. One other thing I might mention here......many people do not realize=20 that a homeowner's policy does not cover flood. This can only be=20 purchased from the Federal Government. So if you are in an area=20 where you could be flooded, you should also talk to your agent about=20 flood insurance. There's lots of people who are victims of El Nino=20 this year, who are finding this out the hard way. Hope this helps. I have the fantasy that I could just drop the loop-mounted dies into a cup of water as I go along and clean them thoroughly at the end of a stamping session. ... no worry of the wood-mount warping!. And no worry about how much water the cushion will soak up and if it might mildew before it dries. The loop doubles as cushion and loop isn't gonna mildew or crumble with age. I still buy wood-mounted stamps, but I usually rip 'em off their mounts the first time I *really* use 'em for more than what I think of as single-shot quickies. HALOS Heck Diane, I don't even bother throwing them in water. I just pile them up and when I'm done or ready to clean my stamps, whichever comes first, I just head over to the sink with a toothbrush and some stamp cleaner. Dip the toothbrush in a bottle of stamp cleaner, rub-a-dub-dub and don't forget to pat both sides between a towel, 'cause that loop can hold a whole lotta water! Slap those puppies back onto their hook strip and I'm ready to make a new mess! Just make sure you get some KAI scissors while your at it. I started with HALOS within a few weeks of starting my stamping life, so I haven't really explored the other um mounting systems. I figured what I had worked, why bother fixing it. I too rip my dies off wood when I *have* to buy wood mounted (PSX for example). I'll probably leave my Stampscapes mounted though, so Angelhrt doesn't have them confiscated for mistreatment of Stampscapes!
