I will not address the "why" Stamp Francisco went out of business as it is none of mine to do so. I would just like to clarify some statements that were reported to and by Stargazer: We acquired the vulcanizers and the rights to all the Stamp Francisco images, names and logos thru the bankruptcy courts. We DID NOT sue Stamp Francisco. We were contacted by the courts like several other stores/manufacturers as potential buyers for the assets of the said company. The courts did not seize any rubber inventory. It was all gone before they arrived as did many other assets. We have to rebuild the whole collection almost from scratch and it will take months to do so. We hope to rebuilt Stamp Francisco with the Spirit with which it was started long ago. We LOVE the line and that's why we took on the challenge... and a challenge it is because of the state in which it was left! By the end of the year, we hope to reintroduce the Art Gallery, carry the whole line in our store, offer the most popular images to stores across the country and introduce new images. We need everyone support to accomplish this and hope to welcome you at "Coco Stamp - Home of Stamp Francisco", when we move to our new large store in the summer. How does this work? Do you get a couple of blocks that you use with all of your ums? It depends on how *you* want it to work. I'd preferred using larger blocks so I could do my "registration" with the corners of the block and of the cardstock, so I got 4" x 6" blocks for HALOS. I had *not* intended to get any smaller blocks, but Steven of Meer Images was selling his display kit, complete with nudes, so I showered him with cash (not really, but it felt like it at the time), so I also have smaller blocks and some "other" materials too. Is it like using velcro on the stamp and block? Some of the stuff that had been Steven's has wood blocks with one face covered completely with hooks. This works, but it is *not* the preferred method. I *want* visibility when I stamp. > Doesn't it wear out with pulling it on and off? Velcro differs. The stuff EVO of Evolving Images sells and the stuff Sheryl of HALOS sells is *not* the stuff you get at the fabric section of Wal-Mart. The stuff used for stamp-mounting is stronger and longer-lasting. > Can you use velcro instead? I might use the hook half of regular velcro for storage, but not for active stamping. > How do you mount it to the stamp and block? Does the "velcro" part cover the entire stamp? When I heard that the velcro was applied in recessed channels in the acrylic mounts ... that I'd *still* have the visibility of cling mount without the necessity of making a fetish of cleanliness, *They [the sellers] "had" me*. If you just slapped the velcro onto a flat hunk of acrylic, it'd leave ridges, but recessing the hook channels prevents that. You could cover the entire side of the mount with hook, if you were using LOTS of tiny images ... all of the same thickness ... but that's the only time I can think of that it would be useful. Otherwise the narrow channels work in a more ideal fashion. > Do you have to buy it in sheets to do this with? The edges of the loopy stuff aren't fully looped so you'll have a bit of fussing in that area. Buying sheets saves you from extra fussing and "seams". > And probably most importantly, how much does it cost to get started and who Sheryl at HALOS or EVO at Evolving Images ... there may be others as well, but they talked me through the basics and didn't tease me because of my former mis-conceptions about the product. If you like using small blocks and a stamp positioner, there are starter kits with several blocks and some of the special velcro in the $20-$30 range. The large mounts are more expensive than the small mounts and not, to the best of my knowledge, available in the introductory-price kits. I have gotten the neatest stuff! Today I was RAK'd by Jamie and Fran. Two terrific stampers! Jamie sent the neatest thing.....a celestial stand up card. I have no idea how she did it...she is way beyond me. It is just lovely and I have it on display in my family room. Thanks so much Jamie! Fran....you are too kind. Fran sent me a birdhouse stamp along with her swap cards. I absolutely just love it. It will get lots of use! Thanks to both of you....
