Well, here's some of my "secrets": Leave your stamping stuff OUT - if you have to spend an hour getting it all together there will be little time left for stamping. Mine is on the dining room table - I'm not ashamed of it so feel no need to put it all away - except when people are coming to dinner (we eat around the coffee table, normally. Spend whatever time you can when you are just WAITING- i.e., in the doctor/dentist's office, at the bus stop, in line ups, with a stamping mag in your hand and get yourself some ideas so that when you do sit down to stamp you have something in your head that you want to start on. A notebook is good to have handy too. Make it a priority in your life - it's a form of mental health treatment - if you make time for physical exercise then make time for mental exercise - it's just as important. Get up earlier in the morning if you can - fabulous - UNINTERRUPTED - stamping time. Hope some of this helps. The book is divided into three sections: the art of papermaking, the art of collage, and projects. The entire book is profusely illustrated with clear, and often stunning, photographs of techniques and samples. The author makes everything sound quite uncomplicated. It is not an intimidating book and I think it would be excellent for someone who's been afraid to start arranging and pasting down all those little scraps we all hoard . Unlike Sue Pickering Rothamel's Collage video, this one doesn't presume that you can draw, at least, not much. Although I have to admit I'm not thrilled with some of the finished collages in terms of the colors she uses -- to my eye some of them look kind of muddy -- the techniques she discusses can be applied to stuff *you* like to work with. I ordered this by phone from the publisher, 1-800-426-3126. Amazon.com didn't have it at the time. Cheers, - -- Latex Linnzie >putting the *fun* in dysfucntional for more than half a century. Anniversary cards:- From Belinda "Roxy" Battersby a lovely mulberry (I'm sorry if I get colours and that wrong but I am guessing on my limited stamping experience) cs which has little dark flecks through it and on the front it is layered with a cream lightweight cs which has been cut with deckled scissors and gold embossed corners of hearts and an ivy vine nicely coloured in with pink and green. On this there are two lovely gold embossed doves (also stamped on the same colour cream but heavier cs) that have a fine gold thread that runs from one dove and around to the other dove (sort of entwined I suppose) - a really beautiful effect. Inside is the same lightweight cream paper which has been gold embossed with the following "Happy Anniversary...the best is yet to be". A card I will treasure :) From Vallas Shelswell (Ally's mum) a nice bright yellow cs which has layered on the front some mulberry corrugated cardboard on which is layered a really neat embossed frog in a bronze colour (I've never seen this EP and am guessing here). Inside the card is a thinner yellow paper which has been trimmed with Victorian Fiskars and Val has handwritten a lovely message to me. I must admit I phoned her up to say thank you and that's how I discovered she was Ally's mum. Ally you are lucky to have such a wonderful caring mum and she is a stamper as well!! What more could a daughter wish for - LOL!! Get Wet cards:- From Nikki Ingram-Rhodes a lovely off white cs which has little flecks through it. She has cut out 3 large stars and layered them on the front of the card. One star is royal blue with little gold embossed swirls around the edge of the star, under that (at an angle) is a gold embossed edged star of the same off white cs, and under that is a pale plum (can't describe this colour but a lovely contrast to the other two colours) star which is gold embossed with little splats that sort of look like suns (warned you that I am not up on descriptions). Also on the front is gold embossed "Get Well Soon". The white envy had two lovely mail art stamps from Hero Arts - Friendship Post and Sunflower Post (the one from the HA Mailbox Big n Little set)!! Love all these HA stamps :) This card was personally hand delivered and I must admit that both Nikki and her husband Peter are very very patient cos my 4 year old trainee terrorist daughter Amanda really tried their patience when they came to visit last Saturday to see me :) From Belinda "Roxy" Battersby - a great envy which has lots of postoids stamped on the front and I have already asked Roxy where she got some of them . The cs is tan with speckles thru it and on the front there is a cute dog stamped on sticker paper, coloured in and then stuck on white glossy which is stamped with multi coloured bricks to give a great effect and Roxy told me she used Cabin Fever stamp pad to give the great colours of the bricks and the corners have been nicely cut (I'm guessing victorian??). This is then layered on a pale greenish cs which has lots of little spots over it then the cs itself is stamped on the front with cute brown bones!! The message says "Dogone It Get Well Soon!". Love it and thank you Roxy!! A very very big thank you for all my RAK's and I might say that apart from my Mother-In-Law I did not receive any other anniversary or get well cards from my immediate family - only my extended stamping family!! So these have all helped cheer me up after a difficult month (and it's only the 19th lol!!). Lorrie Garrison ordered some panel cards from me and with her check enclosed a RAK delivery (great postoid stamp, Lorrie) of a stawberry pretzel salad recipe printed on paper with a strawberry border and, of course, enclosed in an envelope with strawberries around the perimeter. Thanks Lorrie - you really made my day - this was truly a "random" act of kindness! (I did have to explain to my DH and kids what a RAK was :) ) Oh yeah, your cards are going to the PO today!
