I got packages today from all over the country! I RAKed myself--really randomly--by buying a box of red Matchbook pads from AIP's. Thank you Lorri from Florida! Shaunna from California sent me a big box of goodies--numerous treats from bookmark sized clear envelopes to confetti. I have already put some of the confetti on my matchbook pads with the red glitter glue she sent. Anyone who only knows Shaunna as a vendor--and not a personal friend--is missing out. She is among the most generous people I know. Mention to her casually that you are looking for something--works for me every time! All the way from Seattle Washington I received a Colorsnap order from Ellen Gengler that my husband secretly sent me! As always--Ellen throws in tons of chocolates and special surprises. This time she added a Monet bag and it is exquisite. Thank you Ellen! Jhone from South Carolina sent me a ton of her hand-me-downs! This was a real treat! She included many of her own cards and some from the talented members on our list. I have been studying them all morning--drooling over the all of the homemade creativity! Thanks to all of you!! xxooo Love--Lorri - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 09:41:43 -0600 From: "Barbara" Subject: RubberTown: COMM: Halos $5.00 Grabbag Fellow Stampers, Halos are acrylic blocks with recessed grooves that have industrial strength Velcro hook tape in the grooves. You can see through the mount so you can see exactly where you are stamping. You can also combine more than one stamp on a mount instead of stamping several individual images on a card. You put the loop side of the industrial strength Velcro on the back of the um. It has a sticky back so it is easy to put on. Then you just put the um on the acrylic mount and the Velcro holds it together. There are several people on the list that have expressed an interest but don't want to spend $20.00 for the starter kit of HALOS plus the $5.99 for the yard of loop tape and $15.00 for the Kai scissors without knowing they like the system first. So this got me to thinking that what people need is a trial kit that would be very inexpensive and still something useful if they find that HALOS aren't the way they want to go. So what I have to offer is a HALOS grabbag. It has a 1" x 1" acrylic mount with the hook tape already in the recessed grooves and 5 postage size ums that already have the industrial strength loop tape on them. All of this for $5.00 including shipping in U.S. Add $1.00 shipping to Canada and $2.00 shipping to Australia. The HALOS starter set does not have the 1" x 1" mount in it so if you decide you like the system there would be no duplication of mounts. The postage size ums include a dragon holding a heart, a blue bird getting ready to land, a butterfly in flight, a scarecrow in a frame looking at a sunflower, and a frog on a lily pad. For those of you that are already sold on the idea of HALOS I have a special for you too. Free shipping in U.S. when purchasing the HALOS starter set along with my UM Grabbag. You can see the image in my grabbag at http://www.kans.com/~stamps/plate.htm The HALOS starter set consists of four acrylic blocks. Sizes included are l.5" x l.5", 2" x 3.5", 2" x 6", and 3.5" x 4.5". Each set comes with 1/4 yd of 4" loop tape. The whole set of 4 and the tape is $20 (plus $3 shipping if purchased without the um grabbag). Additional tape is available for $5.99 per yard. A good pair of scissors is a must to cut through the rubber and industrial strength loop tape. KAI scissors are wonderful. They are actually scissors for trimming Bonsai trees. Stampers use them for cutting ums (unmounted rubber). They are very sharp and cut through rubber like it was butter. I sell the Kai scissors for $15.00 plus $1.00 shipping. Let me know if I can ever help you with anything! I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and checks. This list has been wonderful for me and while for the longest time I had no idea who was running it, obviously I didn't have to know. The rules were set and John's been running it very well behind the scenes. Thanks, John, for giving us this list!!! Sorry to see you go...wish you didn't have to. Hi Everyone! My sister and I were shopping in the grocery store the other day and we were wandering down the make - up isle. I was looking for nail polish. We saw the coolest nail polish and decided to buy two bottles. The name of the nail polish is Meteorites. It is basically a top coat over regular nail polish. It is made up of little bits of glitter/confetti bits/glitzy stuff in a clear polish. Well, in my opinion - it makes terrible nail polish because you can't get it off once you put it on - without scraping the stuff off physically. Not good for nails. So I started looking for other uses for the polish! STAMPING! I have had a lot of fun with it. I have used the confetti polish to coat over things to make them stand out, and it works really well. They have all kinds of colors. I was thinking that the colors I got would look really neat on next years Christmas cards. I have to go back and buy more! Just wanted to share my little find with everyone! - -melissa - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 14:30:03 -0500 From: "Lisa Mallette" Subject: RubberTown: Scenting cards - THANKS! Wow, I can't believe the super responses I've gotten to my "how to give cards a baby powder scent" dilemma! Some fabulous ideas out there and I appreciate everyone who took the time to write with them. I think the one I like best is using a car air freshener that smells like baby powder. I had no idea such a thing existed! I always figured they were pine or cherry or something equally nauseating. LOL! Anyway, I think that would afford the least "messiness" and as those things are usually pretty strong-smelling, would be the most effective as well. THANKS AGAIN to everyone who responded! :) Lisa Mallette euphoria@gru.net - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 14:43:24 -0500 From: "Lisa Mallette" Subject: RubberTown: Speechless Yes, I was speechless today - actually couldn't even talk for almost a minute, I was so excited. Why? A postcard arrived in the mail from Stampington & Co - I thought at first it must be a coupon or something, as I'd ordered their Book of Inspiration. But when I turned the card over, it said they are going to use my work in the April/May issue of Stamper's Sampler!!!!! I've been stamping less than a year, and was not real hopeful about the two projects I made for their "different point of view" feature - where they show cards made by different people using the same stamp (in this case a window with shutters and window box). Imagine my shock then, to discover that they are going to use both the samples I sent! I want to encourage EVERYONE - "newbies" and "old pros" alike - who has ever considered sending projects to a magazine but thought their stuff wasn't "good enough" - you never know! Take that chance! Maybe something wonderful will happen to you! LOVE the idea of using glittery nail polish on cards! KEWL! I'm going to check that out. In the meantime, I wanted to let everyone know about a catalog called American Science and Surplus. It's free, and contains a lot of "overstocked" and surplus kind of stuff - mostly science/lab/mechanical, but they also have incredible deals on stuff like ribbon (7/8" wide satin ribbon - 250 yards for $2.75) and double-sided foam tape - 80" for TWO BUCKS!!! The latest issue has almost every color of those wee tiny holeless beads you can glue onto cards - for an amazing $1.00 per ounce! I don't think they're the "Beedz" brand per se (it doesn't mention), but it's the same product. How about colored paper? 24-bond in pastel or brite combos, or single colors of rose, lemon, strawberry, robin's egg blue and shamrock. $3.25 for a pack of 50 sheets - can't EVEN beat that!!! They also have 10-foot rolls of cling vinyl for about $3.00 for those of you who use the vinyl/acrylic block mounting method. Check it out! They have a web site: www.sciplus.com Or fax 'em at 800-934-0722 or call 'em at 847-982-0870 Not affiliated, just passin' on the cool bargains! :) Lisa Mallette euphoria@gru.net - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 14:34:40 EST From: Mabash Subject: Re: RubberTown: Speechless WOW!
