Before I quit, I looked for anything with "Star Trek" on it; at that time, it was my only requirement. If I were collecting today, I think I'd be spoiled by the tremendous increase in quality. Well, it could be in the sense that the 81 reprint of the Leaf set is an unlicenesed reprint, that would make it a bootleg set. The 69's Sci Fi and Terror set that came out a few years ago is another type I would call a bootleg set. This is from Ross Campbell, VP of Sales: It has come to Deciphers=B9 attention that due to cold weather conditions some of the packs of Enhanced First Contact experienced condensation inside individual tuckboxes. This condensation caused faint moisture marks on special cards in some packs. After several "spot-checks" we have determined that in most cases the marks wipes off with a soft cloth leaving the cards in good condition. The faint moisture marks occur on top of the card varnish, which can be gently wiped off. Our review determined that the spotting does not occur throughout the total production run of product. We hope it is only on a minimum amount of product. Thanks for your email. We appreciate all questions and concerns related to the Enhanced First Contact cards. To me, the important question is - were the sheets always included and, when they stopped including them, dsids they notify customers of the change? If they just dropped them, it's tantamount to fraud because you had a reasonable expectation that they'd still be there. That's more than an "inconvenience" if they're hard to get elsewhere. Well, the second case is more extreme. then what we are talking about here. With that scenario, Skybox would have to say something along the lines of "Everything you need but the cards!" Or something like that for several binder offers and then say the same slogan or something close to it and then not include the pages. After looking at several wrappers, it seems they always made a point of saying on the wrapper binder with pages, so to suddenly only say binder, (which one must read to know where to send the $$$), is not false advertising no their part. and surely not fraud. If not, cut it. If it's still doing for you what you wanted it to, and you still enjoy and have the time to do it, do it. 2) For me, it's a great way to see what Trek cards (and a few other items) are available aftermarket. eBay requires a lot more searching. 3) I know I trust everyone on your auction; I can't say that about everyone on eBay. Yet Kelley has already signed once and there was a lot of excitement about the Nimoy signing. Am I missing something? Well, let's assume Satner and Nimoy signed the same number..but Shatner's cards are split between two series, but Nimoy's only one. So is Deforest's. If they all signed 800-1000 cards, then 400-500 were in each series for Shatner and Deforest, but Nimoy's all showed up in ONE series, one card. His would be more coveted and anticipated, but not the rarest card of TOS III. I don't think there has been any official word on this subject, but that's my vote. I was assuming that DeForest would have signed twice as many cards as Nimoy. Hmm...my assumptions are all made assuming they signed the same numbers, they tend to have favored nations clauses and such, at least Shatner and Nimoy do. Since Deforest Kelly was a short print for TOS II, I assume he is one for TOS II as well and therefore they signed similar numbers. Fleer/SkyBox Warns of High-Priced "Voided" Star Trek Cards February 26, 1999 Mt. Laurel, NJ -- Fleer/SkyBox Produce Director Steve Dubin released the following statement today regarding "voided" versions of limited edition trading cards: "In recently released SkyBox Star Trek sets, collectors and fans were given an opportunity to win a complete set of autographed cards from the set by completing the Autograph Game Challenge. To win the Autograph Game Challenge, fan had to spell a specific phrase using special letter cards in the set. In an effort to help all collectors complete their Autograph Game Challenge, SkyBox produced "voided" versions of the short-printed, limited edition cards. It has been brought to Management's attention that these "voided" cards are being offered for sale by some retailers at high prices. These cards were distributed free of charge by SkyBox to collectors and dealers who inquired about completing their sets and were not produced as limited edition or short-printed cards. Collectors should be aware of this before purchasing any "voided" versions of short-printed Autograph Game Challenge cards." (Snip) OK, So if they were not produced as limited edition or short-printed cards I guess all you have to do is call them to get them. FAROUT! There are case incentives for DS9 Memories. The 20 box Case will include 9-card sheets. If they are shipped from Skybox packaged inside the case, then they will be included in the case you buy. If not they will be shipped separately. The incentive on a 20-box case is two 9-un uncut sheets, One Greatest Legends sheet and One Greatest Alien Races sheet. The limited-edition set of gold foil-stamped and embossed cards Sounds interesting too. Only 999 numbered sets will be issued in September, 1999. There going to be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. From Whom? I dont know. Direct from Skybox? Or from Dealers?
