The Manitoba Moose (30-21-11) had led the West most of the season, due largely to a schedule which had the only Canadian-based IHL team playing about 10 games more than other teams early on. Utah (34-17-7) started the season a week later than the rest of the IHL, but passed the Moose in the standings in mid-February. The Grizzlies have still played four fewer games than Manitoba, but will make up the difference this month with 16 games in 31 days. The March schedule starts with a six-game homestand at the E Center, where the hockey team has played well lately. The Grizzlies have won four in a row at home and have a 15-8-4 record in West Valley City, but are even better on the road. Utah has the best road record in the IHL (19-9-3). This month's wicked schedule has the Grizzlies playing nine games against Western Conference opponents, including two in Chicago against the second-place Wolves. Utah's only three-games-in-three-nights set in March is a dandy. The Grizzlies play host to host Long Beach on the 24th, then head to Houston on the 25th and wrap up the tour in Chicago on the 26th. © Copyright 2000, The Salt Lake Tribune [ To quit the utah-grizzlies mailing list, send to majordomo@xmission.com ] [ the command "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies" (don't include the quotes) ] ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2000 15:36:20 -0700 From: Jenny Peterson Subject: Re: [UG] Tonight vs. the Moose While there may be a valid point to suggesting a different meeting night, the problem lies in the attitude with which those suggestions are made. If people want to make changes, then they go through the process necessary to do so (ie: join the organization, show up to meetings, suggest your ideas, and let them be discussed in a non-threatening manner). If people are unwilling to attempt civil communication (on either side), then nothing ever gets solved, and it just becomes a personal insult exchange. While many of us reading this whole exchange on the list may or may not agree with what is posted, the fact is that there are some people who post that do so in an intentionally disruptive manner. Bad attitudes are contagious, and eventually someone will respond to a disruptive post in an equally unproductive manner, and we end up reading an argument. I think we can all see the point Mr. S was trying to make. But, as a Booster member and officer myself, I will say I can also see the reason that he was responded to in the way he was. One thing I maintain is this: If you don't like the way things are, get involved and do something productive to make a change. Otherwise, don't complain about it. Getting back to hockey... While I can't make the game tonight, I am cheering for our guys. Hope we kick some Manitoba butt!!
