And it just so happens that Utah Grizzlies Forward Shaun Penn was there reading to the children. I was luckily in the last group for the night and had an opportunity to sit and talk with Shaun for a few minutes. I asked him if there was any truth to the rumors about the Grizz trading a forward for a defenseman. He told me the there had been rumors like that for a long time and that he didn't have any idea if or when there would be a trade. He said "you probably know more about it that I do.... what do you know?" So I told him a little about some of the postings today on the list. He did make a couple of comments that I found interesting. He said that "Bournie has been pulling defensemen and players out of the woodwork for almost nothing, so maybe he'll be able to do it again without loosing any forwards" He also said that IF he did trade a forward that it would probably not be Vakota, Archie, or himself. That most other teams wouldn't give us a good defensemen for nothing and that most of them didn't need the "toughness" of him or Mick so Bob wouldn't be able to get much for him or Mick. And that chances are not many teams would be interested in Archie because of him spending half of the season overseas. Just a little bit of inside information that I thought you guys might be interested in. Pam (ALonDuv) PS.. his black eye was quite impressive. :-) [ To quit the utah-grizzlies mailing list, send to majordomo@xmission.com ] [ the command "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies" (don't include the quotes) ] - --WebTV-Mail-2126-560-- [ To quit the utah-grizzlies mailing list, send to majordomo@xmission.com ] [ the command "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies" (don't include the quotes) ] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2000 10:50:48 EST From: UTRocketMan@aol.com Subject: [UG] Grizz Blunder to Loss vs. Cyclones Grizz Blunder to Loss vs. Cyclones=20 Sunday, March 5, 2000=20 =20 =20 BY BRETT PRETTYMAN THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE WEST VALLEY CITY -- Utah Grizzlies Coach Bob Bourne has four Stanley Cup= =20 championship rings, but he may have missed his calling as a quarterback.=20 The Grizzlies gave up a two-goal lead and coughed up the puck in their=20 own end during a power play, resulting in the game-winning goal as the=20 Cincinnati Cyclones beat Utah 6-5 on Saturday at the E Center.=20 Bourne's previously unknown throwing skills came into view when referee=20 Matt Sharrers called a penalty on Utah defenseman Pat Neaton with five=20 minutes left in the second period. For some reason we aren't able to stay focused against them. In spite of the refereeing we should not give up 2 and 3 goal leads in the second period. Last night 2 of their goals came right after other goals, the Grizzlies didn't even seem to be back on the ice. You might give the ref an assist on the first ones but where were we for the second ones? I still haven't decided which is worse incompetence or incompetence times two. The 2 ref system seems like it might work if the IHL had ANY decent referees to begin with. I would also like to add, that bottle was from me too. - -- Austintatious "Keep Your Stick on the Ice" [ To quit the utah-grizzlies mailing list, send to majordomo@xmission.com ] [ the command "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies" (don't include the quotes) ] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2000 17:14:35 EST From: RICHORNOT@aol.com Subject: Re: [UG] Grizz Blunder to Loss vs. Cyclones We should make sure the officials get a video tape of last nights game to really see how bad they screwed things up for both teams [ To quit the utah-grizzlies mailing list, send to majordomo@xmission.com ] [ the command "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies" (don't include the quotes) ] ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2000 08:06:29 MST From: "Ray Brown" Subject: [UG] Shawn Penn, Player trading cards Alright, a two part E-Mail.... 1. I need a pack of the 3rd set of player cards, either un-opened, or opened, just needs to be complete and undamaged. I have an unopened pack of the 1st set to trade, or we can try to work something else out on it... 2. Did Shawn get picked up off waivers by another team? I checked ESPN.com, and didn't see where it mentioned anything about it. Just curious. I hope he didn't. 3. (okay, so it's a three part E-Mail) Concerning my post about Saturdays game. I don't advocate anyone, even the Coach Bourne, throwing anything at the refs, but, I can understand the frustration and the reason he did it. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com [ To quit the utah-grizzlies mailing list, send to majordomo@xmission.com ] [ the command "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies" (don't include the quotes) ] ------------------------------ End of utah-grizzlies-digest V1 #65 *********************************** [ To leave the utah-grizzlies-digest mailing list (big mistake), send the message ] [ "unsubscribe utah-grizzlies-digest" (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ]
