I know that this is short notice but The torch is coming!
The Great Salt Lake Yacht Club Cruising Committee would like to invite
everyone out to participate in the Olympic boat parade! We haven't actually
ordered the cups yet but for every family that joins in the celebration we
will give out a certificate redeemable at a later date for a cruising cup.
Come join the fun! After the parade K-dock is hosting a barbecue.
Hope to see everyone out

You are invited to a Sailing Party!
Saturday, Feb. 9
7 PM
929 Lincoln Street
BYOB (I will have some wine)
If you would like to help out, give me a call, 364-4292. I could use
chips, dip, margaritas, chalupas (see below), sweet things, etc.
The theme is slightly Mexican, since in two weeks, some of the Hobie
people will be in San Felipe, Mexico.
Chicken Chalupas
3 lbs. Boneless, skinless, chicken
2 cans Cream of Chicken soup (condensed)
1 can Evaporated Milk (8 oz.?)
16 oz. Sour cream
1 lb. Cheddar cheese (grated)
1 lb. Monterey Jack cheese (grated)
1 can diced green chilies (small can, not hot chilies)
Green onions, approx. 10
Tortillas, approx. 24, 10" flour
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients, except half the cheeses.
Spoon the mixture into the tortillas and roll tightly. Place in 13"x9"
baking pan.
Tightly pack the chalupas in the pan (about 12).
Sprinkle cheddar and Monterey jack cheese over chalupas.
Bake until chicken is cooked (about 45 - 60 minutes).
Makes about 24 chalupas (2 pans).

Jan,
Thank you for the chance to party. :) Sailing party at that!
I will not be able to attend. I will be at the Olympic Medal's Ceremony tomorrow night.
The recipe is a keeper.

Hi everyone. I've seen on LandSAT photos and other aerial photos that there
is a causeway on the south of Antelope Island. Does anyone know of road
access to that (except, of course, for all of the roads that are blocked off
by the Airport Authority and Rancher's Association on the south shore?
Thanks,

That causeway is for the rangers use only. It is locked with a special tamper
proof gate that the rangers have the key to. I know that because when my boat
got stranded in a storm out there about 6 years ago, I had special permission
to go out there so that I could retrieve it.

Carl, et al,
Unfortunately, there is not a syllabus or any specific printed materials
for the seminars. Each presenter may or may not have handouts at a
particular session. If there are handouts, any not given out at the session
will be saved and made available at later sessions. There were not any
handouts for my "Basics" seminar, Bob Rosel had many pamphlets on boating
and boating safety at his "Safety" session (all are available at the marina
office), and there weren't any handouts at Dave Shearer's "History"
presentation. Steve Ingram usually has handouts at his "Cruising"
presentation (Feb. 26). Dave Taylor usually gives out a knot tying sheet at
his session (Mar. 5). The "Racing" session (Mar. 19) will probably have a
"Notice of Race" document distributed. There will be a "Sailing Resources"
list distributed at the "Resources" session (Mar. 26). I don't know what
may be handed out at the Juniors program (Apr. 2).
