Seeing bands like Fantomas, in fact seeing Fantomas was the best musical experience of my life....fair enough, you say he should stick to rock music....but then you listen to Rumori Nutrienti on his solo album and its fantastic. I have heard many a saxophone solo by Zorn which includes pieces from that tune (which Patton wrote note for note, I asked him myself), he can't be all that bad if the great man uses his ideas. A brief listen ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I was saying that in the context of the Victo show with the X-Ecutioners (they were the expansive toy). I like Patton in a rock context where he is successful at spicing things up with some experimentation. But when playing in the pure field of experimental music, I am not impressed at all by what he can bring to the table. Others include Jake Davies and Marius De Vries, who >travelled to > Iceland after Bjork relocated from New York, where she >recorded with Zeena > Parkins." good news on the zeena parkins thing - should be wild ... matmos have also been heavily involved, which is "a good thing", i think. the album's to be called 'vespertine' now though ... bjork's pretty good site has a little 'special' on the album (under the old working title): http://www.bjork.com/specials/domestika/ and these snippets from the news section. personally, i can't wait. 'homogenic' was an act of genius. today, on bjork news: 1. The latest news about Bj=F6rk's upcoming album Vespertine is that there will be three music videos made during the next few months. Possible song candidates for these videos might be: 'Cocoon', 'Hidden Place', 'It's Not Up To You' But we are not betting our lives upon it! :) The album was mixed by Mark 'Spike' Stent and includes collaborators such as Matmos, Harmony Korine, Thomas Knak, Guy Sigsworth, Marius de Vries, Bogdan Raczynski. A series of concert events are planned with venues & dates yet to be published. These will be supported by a choir, a band and a big orchestra, all coinciding with the planned album release on 21st of May The album was recorded in London, New York, Spain, Denmark, and Iceland. The name Vespertine has roots in a word way back from the 1500s, which has many symbolic meanings; one being something "flourishing in the evening". A vesper is an evening prayer or service (usually sung) conducted during the evening. 2. (tracks) include:cocoon, it's not up to you, undo, crave, unison, embrace fortress, sun in my mouth, aurora and are in no particular order here what so ever. It is NOT a complete list. The cities confirmed for concerts around the release of Vespertine are Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and London. It would be totally irresponsible to try to describe what is to be expected at these events, so it will not be done, but what will be said is that we are and will be in for a treat and an experience over the next few months. Ofcourse if we get confirmed dates/news we will be the first ones to publish... Which brings us the next topic burning on our minds, namely the visual aspect of things to come, the video. Bj=F6rk will be teaming up with Paul White for one video, the last one they did was Hunter. Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin are to tackle one song, but they did the photographs for Volumen. And lastly we might indeed see Bj=F6rk direct herself. And again these are not in a chronological order or have we got definite songs for the videos. I was trying to explain the quite uncommon "non-cheerleading" attitude at experimental (or wanna be) music listening. Onkyo, a Japanese word meaning "reverberation of=20 sound", places much more emphasis on sound texture than on musical structure= ,=20 distilling elements of techno, noise, and electronic music into a unique=20 hybrid. Nakamura plays the "no-input mixing board", connecting the input of the boar= d=20 to the output, then manipulating the resultant feedback. Since 1998, he's=20 been exploring the possibilities of his instrument in contexts ranging from=20 solo to collaborations with Taku Sugimoto, Keith Rowe, and the duo project=20 Repeat with drummer Jason Kahn. Nakamura is also a co-founder of The=20 Improvisation Meeting at Bar Aoyama, a monthly concert series in Tokyo, whic= h=20 recently changed its name and location to Meeting At Off Site. Sachiko M was a member of the seminal nineties band Ground Zero, led by her=20 frequent collaborator Otomo Yoshihide. Since Ground Zero ended in 1998, she=20 has developed a unique style utilizing a memory-free sampler, creating pure,= =20 piercing sine waves with the device's built-in test tones and noise. Sachiko= =20 has worked extensively as a solo artist, and in groups such as Filament,=20 I.S.O., and Hoahio. She also founded and runs the superb Amoebic label.=20 do is the second release from this duo, following 1998's un (meme). do=20 consists of three live improvisations, recorded in the summer of 2000 at=20 three separate concerts. The unique look of the artwork was created entirely= =20 from the output of a no-input video mixer by NYC designer Chris Harvey. do=20 #1, the 37 minute centerpiece track, is a masterpiece of gradual progression= ,=20 inducing rolling waves inside your head, while constantly, infinitesimally,=20 inexorably creeping forward. "Toshimaru Nakamura and Sachiko M minimize their music to a gorgeous maximum= . In its reduction to electronic signals, the music becomes very physical. You= r=20 speakers become an instrument, and when you move your head or walk around,=20 your ears also become an instrument, you get involved, you can participate.=20 Another prominent aspect is how time seems to escape and how the listener ca= n=20 escape into time simultanously.
